Wendell Paul Magnon

Branch - Wendell Paul Magnon, age 63, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025, in his home in Branch, Louisiana, with his loving wife, Crystal Cradeur Magnon, beside him, after a short and hard-fought battle with cancer. The celebration of life will be held at Woodlawn Chapel in Maurice on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Born on April 12, 1962, Wendell was the beloved son of George Noel Magnon, Jr and Barbara Nell Magnon. He graduated from Comeaux High School in 1980, where he was a proud member of the school band, serving as first chair trumpet. Wendell had a vibrant youth filled with music, friendship, and DJing. He had a deep love for motorcycles and enjoyed traveling across the United States. Some of his fondest memories were made fishing with his father and brothers at the family camps in Grand Isle and Toledo Bend. Wendell dedicated much of his life to the family business, Magnon Electric LLC, where he worked and part-owned. He also owned Acadiana Speedway, where he touched the lives of countless racers and their families. A passionate racer himself, Wendell competed in winged Sprint Car races and was known for his skill and enthusiasm. He found joy in cooking, especially in his cherished black pot, often with the radio playing his favorite Cajun and Zydeco tunes. His smokehouse was a source of pride, and he loved preparing meals for family and friends. Wendell was also an avid gardener who delighted in sharing his fresh vegetables and canned produce with loved ones and neighbors. He was a licensed ham radio operator, known by his call sign N5PST. He traveled the world with his beloved wife and family, always returning home to spend time with his two granddaughters, Brynley and Brielle, who lovingly called him “Pop.” Wendell had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He especially loved sitting on the patio at his camp in Toledo Bend with his wife, soaking in the peaceful surroundings and sharing quiet moments together. He also adored his cat, T-Menew, who was always by his side and brought him great comfort and joy. One of Wendell’s favorite parts of every day was his long phone calls with his son Braydon. These conversations were something he truly looked forward to, and they shared countless special moments and meaningful talks that brought them even closer together. He had a wonderful marriage with Crystal, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. He was a devoted father to Madeline Magnon, Braydon Magnon (Bailey), and Kristen Cradeur, and a cherished grandfather to Brynley and Brielle Magnon. Wendell was also a treasured member of the Cradeur family. He will be remembered for his love of Dr. Pepper and bacon, his appreciation for local festivals, and his unwavering faith—starting each day with a prayer and placing his trust in God. Wendell never met a stranger and could make friends anywhere he went. His warmth, humor, and genuine kindness left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. Wendell is survived by his loving wife, Crystal Cradeur Magnon; his children, Madeline Magnon, Braydon Magnon (Bailey), and Kristen Cradeur; his granddaughters, Brynley and Brielle Magnon; his siblings, Brett Magnon (Lecia), Jason Magnon (Carol), and Marla Partimbene (Laurent); and his nieces and nephews, Allison Magnon Jenssen (Fredrik), Blake Magnon (Kennedi), Matthew Magnon, Jenna Partimbene, and Alexandre Partimbene. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Noel Magnon, Jr and Barbara Nell Broussard Magnon; and his grandparents, George Noel Magnon, Sr and Vera Mae Magnon, and Rowena Theriot Broussard and Elmo Broussard Sr. The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the Ochsner Cancer Center of Acadiana in Crowley and Dr. LeJeune for their compassionate care and support throughout Wendell’s treatment.
