Vilner Louis

New Iberia - A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Lafayette Seventh-day Adventist Church for Vilner Louis, age 77, who passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026 at his residence in New Iberia. Pastor Ramirez will officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026 from 10:15 AM until service time at Lafayette Seventh-day Adventist Church. Interment will be held at St. Paul's Cemetery in Abbeville following the service. Vilner was born on January 20, 1949 in St-Louis-du-Nord, North West, Haïti, and he was a resident of New Iberia. Vilner loved to preach, minister, and fellowship with family and friends. As a pastor, but more importantly a person, he loved to connect with people spiritually and religiously. As an educator, you could always find him in a book or bringing home collections of books for the future library he was building. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and loved ones. Vilner is survived by his wife, Rolkame Louis; his children, Jonathan LouChristie (Felicia), Nathaniel, and Francine; his stepchildren, Mirta Desir and Erol Desir (Minerva Garcia-Desir); his grandchildren, Zoelle Louis and Felisse Amaria LouChristie; his step grandchild, Naya Desir-Johnson; his siblings, Asseniere Charles and Jean E. Louis; his nephews, Lamenais, Milceau, Yolet, Walès, Sedlaire, Franly, Emilien, Rodney, Franklin, Franky, Jeenly, and Jo'Elie; his nieces, Ritha, France, Flarie, Charitable, Vyola, Antenie, Lanecie, Vilna, Lovenia, Francess, Annette. Ashley, Niseline, Nixine, Nicitha, Marie Nicole, Monique, Nerla, Anide, Karen, Jana-Lynn, and J'Aimee Ann; as well as his cousins, Felicien, Saint-Luc, Leon, Gislaine, Devilas, Theovil, Wesley, Island, Akman, Georges, and Elidene. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Claudette Cesar-Louis; his parents, Denis Acelus Louis and Francine Louis; as well as his siblings, Mercedes Louis-Simeon, Lamercie Louis-Charles, Emilio Louis, and Frank Louis. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Lafayette/New Iberia SDA Church and its members for taking care of Vilner and Rolkame as they went through this hard time; as well as Uncle Jean and Auntie Asseniere who talked to him as often as possible until they were no longer able to.
