Lafayette - A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date for Ms. Sue Lynne Landry, age 56 years old, who passed away on April 12, 2024 at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette with her family by her side. We take comfort in knowing Sue's Earthly long-suffering journey of Vascular Dementia has ended. She now rests in God's Kingdom, welcomed to her eternal home by Jesus, whom she loved with all her heart. Sue, a native and resident of Lafayette for the majority of her life, was born on May 14th, 1967. Sue was the middle daughter born to Mary Lee Trahan Landry and Herbert Paul Landry. She was raised in Magnolia Park Subdivision where she attended Woodvale Elementary School, L. J. Alleman Middle School, and Lafayette High School, thus becoming a proud Mighty Lion alumnus, Class of 1985. Sue began a life-long career, starting at the age of 15 years old, working for One Hour Martinizing. She worked hard at her job within the dry-cleaning industry until her forced retirement in 2017 due to health issues. In describing Sue's work ethic, it is an understatement in saying she gave it her all. There literally was no other employee that exemplified their devotion, dedication and loyalty to the profession and job than Sue. Seldom would Sue schedule vacation time for which she had earned. When she did take vacation more times than not, she would receive calls for her to cut her vacation short because they needed her back. She was well loved by many of her customers from the very beginning. Through the years she would be remembered by her customers for her birthday and holidays. She was the little engine that could, and did she ever for One Hour Martinizing, in locations throughout Lafayette and New Iberia. Sue loved life and sports, especially The Atlanta Braves, LSU Tigers and The New Orleans Saints! On any given day you could guarantee seeing Sue show her love and fanfare by sporting one of those two teams' apparel. Sue had a very unique gift of remembering sports statistics and, the ability to recall them at any given time. She would impress her doctors by having them ask her who the pitcher was for The Atlanta Braves, on any given year between 1979-2016, always asking too "the starting pitcher or the relief pitchers"? She would promptly give the correct answer like it was nothing, and laugh as the doctor would check GOOGLE for the answer...and, yes, Sue was right! It wasn't just pitchers though, she could also recall RBI's, ERA's, etc! Before her health declined, she would attend Church services at a few select non-denominational churches in the Acadiana area. Long ago Sue accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior...she loved Jesus with all her heart. Sue, being quiet, reserved with a somewhat shy demeanor, a homebody, always looked forward to church services since this was her opportunity to praise, learn more about Jesus, and, socialize with fellow churchgoers. Besides Sue's favorite pastime of watching sports on TV she also loved to draw, color, and was an avid reader until the disease robbed of her that as well. When it came to her appetite Sue loved to eat her favorite foods which were boiled crawfish, Popeyes, pizza, hamburgers, Okra gumbo, cookies and candy! She loved her soft drinks too...DR. Pepper and PEPSI. Sue loved listening to music, especially pop music and country. She was a big fan of Lauren Daigle as well as the late greats Michael Jackson, and Whitney Houston. Sue loved life, lived it simple and well, loved her family and friends dearly. She was always loving, very generous and giving, and so thoughtful. Sue was known to send greeting cards for every occasion to those within her circle of family and friends. In turn, Sue was beloved by all and, will forever remain loved in our hearts and mind. We will always be thankful and grateful God blessed our lives with giving us such a jewel...there was no one like Sue. Sue Lynne Landry is survived by her mother, Mary Lee Trahan Landry of Scott; her siblings, Sharon Savoie, and her husband, Robbie Savoie of Breaux Bridge, and Shelley Landry and her wife, Lisa Landry of Lafayette; her niece, Chynna Thibodeaux; as well as her nephew, Ian Savoie. Sue was preceded in death by her father, Herbert P. Landry; her maternal grandparents, Lennis and Eva Mae Trahan; her paternal grandparents, Dema and Edna Mhire Landry; as well as her maternal great-grandmother, Noemie Guillot Broussard. The last three years of Sue's life were spent in residency at Camelot Brookside in Jennings, and most recently, Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette. The family wishes to acknowledge and extend sincere thanks and gratitude to her doctors, nurses and entire staff for their love and care in attending to her special needs and, making her as comfortable as possible. We also extend special thanks to LAMM Hospice Care for their prompt attentiveness to Sue's care in her final days. And, lastly, but certainly not the least, Fr. Joshua Guillory, of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, in Lafayette, as well as Pastor Jeff Williams, of The Open Door Church, in Lafayette who both graciously visited with Sue in her final days offering prayers over her. We will always be appreciative of their kindness; we believe Sue understood why they were there to see her and help guide her into the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ. "You're beautiful, you're endless, Now stretch your wings and fly, you’re loved by so many, It will never be goodbye. Close your pretty eyes, no more tears, just go and rest, Let your soul lie peacefully, we know you did your best". Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W.
