Charenton - Stephen "Poppa Steve" Anthony Kristicevich Our sweet Poppa Steve passed away peacefully at his home on the bayou, surrounded by his loving and supportive family. While our hearts are heavy, we are comforted knowing he lived a beautiful and faithful life. The void left by his beautiful bright light, big heart, and generous spirit will be deeply felt by all who knew him. He held such a special place in so many people's hearts. Born into a family of fishermen, Poppa Steve held a great love for nature and the water. Being on the bayou, fishing, and sharing this passion with friends and family brought him immense peace and happiness. His delicious catfish was known far and wide, a testament to his passion. He was a carpenter and builder of many things. With his big strong hands and heart, he built a loving family and legacy that he was most proud of. Poppa Steve was incredibly kind, always helping others and never expecting anything in return. He was a pillar of his family, which he loved fiercely. He and his beloved wife, Cynthia, nurtured a beautiful family that was always by his side. Poppa Steve especially loved his six grandchildren—Amelie, Greyson, Lillian, Nina, Wade, and Andrew—who brought him such joy. He cherished the time spent with them, especially when they were all fishing together. As so many know, Poppa Steve was a wonderful storyteller. The combination of his incredible delivery, his infectious, hearty laugh, and that signature mustache meant that when Poppa told a story, you couldn't help but smile, laugh, and feel his joy! Poppa Steve fought an incredible battle since his diagnosis a few months ago, demonstrating immense courage until the very end. The family is incredibly grateful for the immense love, support, and kindness shared by the community during this difficult time. Poppa Steve is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia Bonin Kristicevich; his children and their spouses: Tori Kristicevich Louviere (Jeremy Louviere), Marla Kristicevich (Paige Krause), Sara Kristicevich Bergeron (Jake Bergeron), and Zachary Kristicevich (Michelle Kristicevich); his six grandchildren; his siblings: Sharon Dugas, Tina Clements, Craig Kristicevich, and Chris Kristicevich; and special nieces and nephews he had the pleasure of raising: Kayla Bonin, Nicholas Kristicevich, Alesha Andressen, and Tanna Comeaux. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Jewel Kristicevich. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church in Jeanerette, LA. Poppa Steve will be laid to rest at Beau Pré Cemetery in New Iberia, Louisiana. The family extends its deepest appreciation to MD Anderson, Dr. Kevin’s Wellness Clinic for all their support during this journey, and to Hope Hospice for their care and compassion. Poppa was deeply moved by everyone’s gesture of giving to the fund, which was essential in navigating his medical care-thank you.
