Robert Charles Babineaux

Lafayette - A Liturgy of the Word service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 11:00 am at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice, Louisiana for Mr. Robert Charles Babineaux who passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Deacon David Menard will conduct the services. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice from 9:00 am until 11:00 am. A Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am in the Cypress Chapel. Robert Charles Babineaux was born on March 10, 1943, in Church Point, Louisiana and he was a long-time resident of Lafayette Parish. He proudly served his country for 4 years in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged from the service, Robert went on to work in the oilfield, where he was employed by Schlumberger for over 35 years. In his time away from work he was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed duck hunting, fishing, and collecting guns. More than anything Robert will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Robert is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Betty Leger Babineaux; his children, Dwayne Babineaux (Christine), and Rachel Begnaud (Derek); his grandchildren, Brandy Viator (Philip), Crystal Magnon (Caleb), and Sydnee Babineaux; his great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Comeaux, Drake Comeaux, Harper Viator, Wesley Magnon, Lily Magnon, and Sadie Magnon; his siblings, Dorothy Menard (Clayton), Norma Cormier, Fred Babineaux (Bonnie), and Susan Menard (Donald); as well as a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adam Babineaux Sr., and Eula Marie Meche Babineaux; his great-granddaughter, Remi Viator; as well as his siblings, Sybil Perrodin, Joann Roy, and Adam Babineaux Jr. Interment will be held in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery No. 2 in Rayne, Louisiana. Pallbearers will be Philip Viator, Caleb Magnon, Christopher Guilbeau, Dwayne Babineaux, Derek Begnaud, Drake Comeaux, and Chad Savoy. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the nurses, doctors, and staff of Lafayette General Medical Center Main Campus, as well as Lafayette General Orthopedic Hospital, and especially his nurse Christie for all of the care and compassion they provided Robert throughout his time of need.
