Patricia Miguez Bacala

New Iberia - A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 3:00 pm at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in New Iberia for Patricia “Patsy” Miguez Bacala, age 85, who passed away peacefully at The Carpenter House on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in Lafayette. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church. Patsy was born on September 11, 1938, in St. Martinville and she was a longtime resident of New Iberia. She had one sibling, Monty Bordelon, whom she adored, and they greatly enjoyed spending time together. Patsy was a graduate of USL, Lafayette. She served for many years as a welfare department supervisor in New Iberia until her retirement. Patsy’s hobbies and interests included needle point, cooking, spending time with family and friends and dancing with her husband, Warren. She enjoyed collecting clowns, especially Emmet Kelly clowns. Patsy also enjoyed attending musicals and plays with her group of friends – the Ya Ya Girls. Many weekends and holidays were spent with her hosting get togethers at their camp at Cypermore Point, “Jac & the Bac’s.” Her marvelous cooking was surely the highlight of the event – and there was also a little wine to be enjoyed by all. “Mimi” as she was known to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, loved and adored them all so much. She was always the first one to get a hug and a kiss. And if they were lucky, they would also get some of her fried shrimp. Patsy will be dearly missed. Patsy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Warren Bacala; her children, Scott Bacala of New Iberia, Leslie Glenn of Seabrook, Texas, and Chris Bacala (Deidre) of Dallas, Texas; her grandchildren, Hanna Howton (C.J.), Maddie Glenn, Christopher Bacala, Charlie Bacala, Tyler Bergeron, Jacob Bergeron, and Alex Bergeron (Cassie); her great-grandchildren, Dani Howton, Nevaeh Ranton, Octavian Ranton, Novalee Bergeron, and Scarlett Bergeron; as well as her sister, Monty Bordelon. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Angela Bergeron; her son-in-law, Danny Glenn; as well as her parents, Luna and Howard Miguez. Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W.
