Mitchell "Mitch" Paul Romero

Maurice – Funeral Services will be held on Monday, September 15, 2025, at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Mitchell “Mitch” Paul Romero, age 62, who passed away on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Deacon Keith Duhon of Our Lady of Prompt Succor will officiate. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Monday morning from 8:00 AM until the time of service. Mitchell Paul Romero was born on February 16, 1963 in Abbeville, Louisiana and he was a life long resident of Maurice. Mitch will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a beloved brother. He grew up as a good ole country boy. He was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing. Mitch also loved working on his land, with his tractor and fishing his crawfish pond. More than anything Mitch loved working with his Beefmaster cattle alongside his children and family. He was a family man, and he believed in family traditions. Mitch was known to be generous and if anyone needed a hand Mitch was always willing to step up and help out, it mattered not if they were family, friends, or just someone in need. Mitch valued friendship, and he maintained many lifelong friendships, he was loving and loyal to all who knew him. Mitch started working at a very young age. He began his career working for Marine Appliance and Air Conditioning for many years. Eventually Mitch decided it was time to go out on his own, and he started his own business “Mitch Romero Appliance”. Mitch grew his business from its simple humble beginnings to a good size company employing many in his family, and other valued employees. Mitch had many loyal customers and he was loved by many. Over the years he received countless awards for Excellent Service and Professionalism in the Appliance Service and Repair Industry. Mitch loved his company and his employees; he was a fierce business owner and operator. When Mitch was not working, he was busy in his fields working his cattle. Mitch’s whole life changed when he was diagnosed with lung disease. He received a double lung transplant in February of 2021. He tried living life as normal as possible after his translate, refusing to give up on activities that he loved so much. He was blessed to find love again, and marry his wife Sarah who he lovingly referred to as his “Angel”. Sarah cared for Mitch 7 days a week and remained by his side until the very end. He was truly a blessed man, loved by many. He will be dearly missed. Mitch is survived by his wife, Sarah Habetz Romero of Maurice; his children, Aaron Romero of Maurice, Martine Alexander (Lucas) of Maurice, Hannah Romero (Dray Hebert) of Maurice, Autumn Romero of Rayne, Canaan Romero (Aubrey) of Rayne; his step-children, Lindsey Habetz Fernell (Jalen) of Scott, and Brittany Habetz Pellerin (Gabe) of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Madison Romero, Blakely Romero, Lucas Alexander Jr., Eli Alexander, Jadd Williams, Rynleigh Hebert; his siblings, Christine Jaubert (Kenneth) of Maurice, Belinda Romero of Maurice, Ramona Romero (Jack Lopez) of Maurice, Dawn Landry (Shane) of Maurice, Shannon Miller (Patrick) of Carencro, Darren Bourgeois (Wendy) of Lafayette; his step-mother, Beverly Romero of Maurice; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette and Danny Blanchard, and Robert Romero; his grandparents, Oran and Virginia Romero, and George and Irene Lagrange; as well as his nephews, Justin LaBauve, and Brent LaBauve. Honored to serve as pallbearers: Aaron Romero, Canaan Romero, Kelly Romero, Kyle Romero, Lucas Alexander, and Kenneth Richard. Honorary Pallbearers: Jadd Williams, and Lucas Alexander, Jr. Entombment will be held in the mausoleum at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery in Leroy, Louisiana. The Romero family wishes to offer a special thank you to the Doctors, Nurses and Staff of University of Texas South Western Medical Center in Dallas Texas, for the loving care and compassion they offered Mitch during the last several years.
