Maurice- Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Melissa Ann Stutes, age 46, who passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at her residence in Lafayette. Visitation will be observed at Cypress Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Wednesday November 4, 2020 from 8:00 AM until time services. A Rosary will be prayed on Tuesday at 6:00 PM in Cypress Funeral Home. Internment will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Milton, Louisiana. Pastor Sandy Doucet and Aimee Broussard will conduct the services. Melissa Ann Stutes was born on September 3, 1974 in Lafayette and was a life long resident of South Louisiana. She was a graduate of Comeaux Highschool Class of 1992. After high school She went on to graduate from Blue Cliff College School of Massage Therapy. Melissa owned and operated a successful business as a massage therapist in Lafayette for many years. She will be remembered as being an adventurous and spontaneous person, she loved last minute trips to the beach and was known to just “show up at your house”. She was a strong person who fought the good fight throughout her illness. She was always careful never to let her family see how sick she really was. Melissa had a tremendous faith in God and she loved the Lord with all of her heart. More than anything Melissa was a loving mother, she adored spending time with her four children. Her memories will be forever cherished and she will be dearly missed. Melissa is survived by her children, Michael Alleman of Maurice, Landen Lanerie of Maurice, Kyler Lanerie of Lafayette and Zoe Baldwin of Lafayette; her mother Michelle Stutes Guilbeau and her husband Gary of Lafayette; her siblings, Shannon Vice Hudson and her husband Tommy of Maurice , Leah Hoss and her husband Richard, Jr. of Humble, Texas and Yvonne Stutes of Lafayette; her nephews, Kane Leger of Maurice, Blaine Guidry of Lafayette and Brayden Vice of Humble, Texas; and her grandfather Horace Stutes, Sr. of Lafayette; she is also survived by a host of Aunts, Uncles and Friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Leonpacher; her sister, Randi Lynn Vice; her grandmothers, Faye Stutes and Grace Credeur; and her grandfather, Leroy Credeur. Pallbearers will be Michael Alleman, Landen Lanerie, Kyler Lanerie, Kane Leger, Blaine Guidry and Brayden Vice.
