Opelousas - A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 10:00 am at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas for Mary Faith Wyble Thomasee, age 82, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in Opelousas. Father Neil Pettit will officiate. A Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 am at St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas, led by Anna Faye Larriviere. Rite of Committal to directly follow at St. Landry Church Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held following her Rite of Committal at 1 pm at "The BBQ Shed" located on her beloved JP4 family land at 155 Fred J. Wyble Road, Opelousas. Mary Faith Wyble Thomasee was born on September 25, 1942, in Port Barre. She was raised in Opelousas and attended Academy of the Immaculate Conception (AIC) and graduated in the Class of 1960. She raised 4 children in Wichita Falls, Tx where she obtained a bachelor's degree from Midwestern State University, all while while working full-time. She completed a long, successful career in the social work field while helping dislocated workers receive job training and placement. After spending years apart, she was luckily reunited with her teenage love, Joseph Ray Thomasee. They were married in 1995 on her beloved family land here in Opelousas. Upon retirement in Wichita Falls in 2010, she and Ray returned to Opelousas and made JP4 their home. She loved being outside on the land, working with plants and flowers, watching and tending to her numerous hummingbird feeders, reading, doing diamond paintings, and spending time with her incredible family and friends. She will be dearly missed. Mary Faith is survived by her children, Greg Amy (Thea Moritz) of Middletown, Connecticut; Arlette Amy (CJ Sautter) of Carencro, Louisiana; Angelique Amy Aviss (Jason) of Canada; Andree Griffin (Scott) of Opelousas, Louisiana; and her stepson, Tommy Thomasee (Barb) of Wyoming; her grandchildren, Erika Bennett, Kasey Merkel, Jon Michael Mauldwin, Melanie Mauldwin, Abbey Peeples, Alexander Robbins, Emily Robbins, Allison Hennings-Booth, Phoenix Aviss, Elizabeth Griffin Nix, and Kay Griffin; her great-grandchildren, Erin Bennett, Jordan Bennett, Ian Bennett, Hudson Bennett, Payton Merkel, Carson Merkel, Brynn Merkel, August Robbins, Forrest Robbins, Andrew Hennings-Booth, and Heather Nix; her sister, Lorna Sue Miller of Opelousas; her cousins, Manuel, Camellia, Michelle, Boo and Beth Persica, and Dale Wyble; her sister-in-law, Bonnie Shaver; her nieces and nephews, Mark Wyble, Wendy Napoli, Shawn Wyble, Matt Wyble, Regena Stelly, Darrell Stelly, Kathie Landry, and Kristi Hunter; her friends, Cathy Lay and Mary Lynn Boyd; as well as so many more supportive and loving friends and family, too numerous to all be listed. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick J. and Beulah Carriere Wyble; her siblings, Amaryllis Ann Wyble, Homer Wayne Wyble, and Frederick A. Wyble; her niece Sharon Wyble Branson; as well as her cousin, Diane Ryder Wyble. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of Mary Faith to the Miles Perret Cancer Services of Lafayette. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to to her numerous doctors, surgeons, oncologists, nurses, therapists, CNAs, and caretakers across the last almost 2 years - thank you for every extra moment you granted her, they were cherished and appreciated; to Miles Perret Cancer Services for all of their support, services, events, and assistance - you helped her to Fight. Survive. Live.; to St. Joseph's Hospice for giving her dignity, comfort, support, guidance, and the ability to remain at her Happy Place; and to all of her prayer warriors and constant family, friends, and visitors, thank you for filling her battle with love, hope, humor, and endless cherished memories.
