Mary Downs Thibodeaux

Catahoula - Mary Downs Thibodeaux, age 68, passed away on Sunday, November 23, 2025 in Breaux Bridge. Mary was born on August 17, 1957 in Beaumont, TX and she was a resident of Catahoula. As one of eight siblings, she grew up surrounded by family, laughter, and the strong values that shaped the caring woman she became. Even as a child, her nurturing spirit was evident. She proudly took on motherly roles for her younger siblings, especially Janeen and Kenneth, offering them guidance, comfort, and support. The love she showed them in those early years became a defining part of who she was throughout her life. At the young age of 16, she welcomed her only child into the world. With the support and love of her parents, she devoted herself to motherhood, ensuring her child was raised in a home filled with care, guidance, and unconditional love. Family was always at the center of her heart, and the bond she shared with her parents and child remained one of her greatest sources of pride. In 1996, her life grew fuller when she met the love of her life, Harold “Cheeta” Thibodeaux. Through their love, she gained a stepson, Teddy Thibodeaux, whom she embraced as her own. Her open heart and nurturing spirit helped create a blended family built on acceptance, warmth, and devotion. She and Harold shared many years of companionship, support, and love, standing by one another through life’s joys and challenges. She will be remembered for her resilience, her generosity, and the deep love she carried for those she called family. Her legacy lives on through the lives she shaped and the love she gave so freely. Mary is survived by her sons, Robert Downs of Zachary, LA and Teddy Thibodeaux of Parks, LA; her grandchildren, Harmon Downs, Abigail Downs, Brianna Downs, Alexandra Downs Flickinger, Kaylin LeBlanc (Hunter), and Jordyn Thibodeaux (Alana); her great-grandchildren, Brynn Thibodeaux and Cadence Marceaux; her siblings, Janeen Canezaro “Nee Nee” of Austin, TX and Kenneth Downs (PJ) of Orlando, FL; as well as her daughters-in-law, April Downs and Brandi Thibodeaux. She was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, Harold John Thibodeaux; her parents, James and Margret Downs; as well as her brothers, Andrew Graham, Jimmy Downs, Johnny Downs, and Charles Downs. Mary wishes were for no services or viewing. She asked only for a party to celebrate her life and no crying is allowed. As such we will respect her wishes.
