Linda Elizabeth Mire

Lafayette - A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Linda Elizabeth Mire, age 76, who passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2026 in the city she called home her entire life. Deacon Keith Duhon will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Cypress Funeral Home. A repass will be held immediately following the services at Cypress Funeral Home. Born on April 8, 1950, to John D. Mouton and Iris Mouton, Linda was raised in Lafayette, where she was formed in faith — something she carried with her every day of her life. A devoted Catholic, Linda was educated at Holy Rosary Institute. She went on to dedicate her working years to serving others — first as a social worker, and later as a substitute teacher. Whether in a classroom or a caseworker's office, Linda had a gift for connecting with people. Anyone who knew Linda knew she was the life of the party. She loved to dance, and her laugh and sense of humor were impossible to resist. She could be found playing bingo, talking on the phone, or simply visiting with family. She lived by simple, steadfast wisdom: "Put it in God's hands" and "Just pray." Those who knew her best know just how fully she did both. She is survived by her children, Gerald Mire Jr. of Abbeville, Angelo Mire of Abbeville, Jason Mire of Abbeville, Danielle Mire of Roswell, GA, and Ashley Lounds of Roswell, GA; her grandchildren, Amire Williams, Billy Williams Jr., Braylin Williams, Jacoby Sonnier Jr., Tyrone Mire, Xena Mire, Jaslyn Rudd, Jeramiah Kelly, Thaddaues "TJ" Lounds Jr.; her great grandchildren, Dakota Williams, Courtlyn Williams, and Emory Williams; her brother, Ricky Mouton of Scott; and countless friends and family members whose lives she touched with her warmth and spirit. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, John D. Mouton and Iris Mouton; her sister, Donna Harmon; and her brother, Tony Mouton. Linda's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and caretakers who provided care for her over the years. As well as Aunt Criscilla Mire, Linda's sister-in-love, who helped her in so many ways. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
