Lafayette - Mrs. Linda Elaine Booher Mahler, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away after an extended illness on August 2, 2025, in Lafayette, Louisiana. Born on November 7, 1951, in South Bend, Indiana, Linda's life was a testament to her gentle spirit, creative soul, and generous heart. She was a cherished member of her community and a devoted Christian who lived her faith through her daily actions. Linda grew up in a loving home in Darlington, Indiana, where she graduated from high school, setting the stage for a lifetime of learning and service. Her career was marked by dedication and excellence, as she served as the head secretary at Owen Hall, Purdue University, and later at Scott Middle School in Scott, Louisiana. Linda also gave her time as a volunteer, providing invaluable office help at Edgar Martin Middle School in Lafayette, Louisiana. In her personal life, Linda was the center of a large and loving family. She is survived by her adoring husband, Stephen Mahler; her sons, Jeffrey and Christopher Mahler; daughters-in-law, Laci Oertling Mahler and Karen Broussard Mahler; her grandchildren, Amber, Rogan, Rhett, Ryler and Landon; and her sisters, Sandra Booher and Julie Booher Schulte. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Patricia and Leon Booher, who instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion that she carried throughout her life. Linda's passion for scrapbooking and crafting was a beautiful reflection of her personality. She had the unique ability to preserve memories and create heartfelt gifts that brought joy and comfort to her family and friends. Her custom greeting cards, a recent hobby, were more than just paper and embellishments; they were tangible expressions of her love and creativity. Those who knew Linda will remember her for the warmth she brought into every room and the care she put into every relationship. She had the rare gift of making everyone feel loved and valued. Her generosity extended beyond her family, touching the lives of countless students and colleagues throughout her career. As we mourn the loss of Mrs. Linda Elaine Booher Mahler, we also celebrate the remarkable life she led and the legacy she leaves behind. Her gentle nature, creative gifts, and generous spirit will continue to inspire and influence all who were blessed to know her. Linda's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, service, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.
