Erath - A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 2:00 pm at 107 in Erath for Lawrence Harvey Dodson, age 65, who passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, in Erath and spent his last moments surrounded by his family and knowing he was loved. Lawrence was born on May 28, 1957, in Snyder, Texas to Mary Louise and Olan Harvey Dodson. He married the love of his life, Tina Carol Sowell on July 11, 1977. They were married for 42 cherished years until Tina’s passing in 2019. After high school, Lawrence attended trade school and became a HVAC technician, a profession that took care of his family until 1999. He spent his free time demonstrating the importance of faith and family. Lawrence believed fiercely in Jesus and was never afraid to tell the world of his faith and would pray with anyone. His family feels such honor to have witnessed him leading prayers with the youth of the community. Faith and the love of God will be his legacy. The favorite pastime for the Dodson family was sports. Lawrence taught each of his children to play many sports, specifically softball and baseball. He never missed a game or a chance to coach. Lawrence taught his children how to pitch a ball, change a tire, brakes, and oil. He also made sure to teach them that they can do anything and to work hard. Lawrence was lovingly known as “Paw-Paw” to his grandchildren. He seldomly missed a sporting event for them, even while battling his illness. Lawrence was tremendously proud of each one of his grandchildren. He loved his family and they will miss him dearly as they try to figure out this world without him. They take comfort in knowing that in his last moments, he knew that he was loved. Lawrence is survived by his children, Lawren Dodson (Brandon Fobbs) and Nicole Perro (Rodney); his grandchildren, Ryan, Ryleigh, Justin, Kiersten, Kayleigh, Kynlee, and Rodney (Tripp); as well as his siblings, Carlos (Eileene Rhea), Richard Olds, Rockey Dodson (Kim), Steve Dodson (Wanda), James Olds (Robin), and Bobby Olds. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Tina Carol Dodson; his parents, Olan and Mary Dodson; as well as his siblings, Mary Olds, Olan Dodson, and Jimmy Dodson.
