Maurice - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice for Laura Mae Broussard, 91, the former Laura Mae Guilbeau, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at her residence surrounded by her family. Reverend Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, will serve as Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Readers will be Clint Broussard and Bridget Mier. Entombment will take place in St. Alphonsus Mausoleum. Laura, a native of Scott, was a longtime resident of Maurice for over 70 years. She was a homemaker and often helped her husband during his many years of owning Ray’s Furniture and Appliances. She was a dedicated parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and a member of the Ladies Altar Society. A devout Catholic, she attended daily mass and prayed the rosary several times a day. Her spiritual life was a guiding force throughout the years and a source of strength for those around her. Laura never hesitated to offer a helping hand to others in their time of need. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished her family, always putting the needs of her loved ones before her own. She will be remembered by her family and friends as a loving, selfless, strong, and beautiful woman who will be deeply missed. Survivors include her children, Craig Broussard (Yvonne), Stephanie Broussard, and Allison Broussard; grandchildren, Jason Turner, Clint (Shenee) Broussard, Jennifer (Louis) Dronet, and Bridget (Justin) Mier; great-grandchildren, Jace Turner, Ryli Turner, Carlyn Broussard, Cambri Broussard, Demi Dronet, Kinsley Mier, and Charli Mier; and step-great-grandchildren, Bayleigh Dronet and Alyssa Dronet. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Raymond Demas Broussard; parents, Alfred “Poon” and Esta Duhon Guilbeau; daughter, Marietta Broussard Turner; son-in-law, Wilfred “T-Boy” Turner; and great-grandchild, Drake Upton. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. A rosary will be recited at 11:00 a.m. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Craig Broussard, Jason Turner, Clint Broussard, Jace Turner, Louis Dronet, and Justin Mier. Honorary pallbearers will be Rod Broussard and Ted Guilbeau.
