Kenny "Ken" Paul Winters

Kaplan - A graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 29, 2024, in Holy Rosary Cemetery in Kaplan for Kenny "Ken" Paul Winters, age 67, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at his residence in Kaplan, Louisiana. The Legion of Mary Ministry will be conducting the Rosary for the Service. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held in the family room of St. Martin De Tours Assisted Living immeditely following the graveside service. (1800 Legion Park Drive, Kaplan, La. 70548.) Kenny Paul Winters was born on November 7, 1956 in New Orleans, and he was a resident of Kaplan for the last 10 years. He was a graduate of West Jefferson High School in 1974 located on the Westbank of New Orleans. After high school he went on to pursue a degree in music and film from Loyola University. Kenny worked as a Camera Man for Cox Communications as well as WDSU Television. His production name that he used in those days was "Burt Gold". He also worked with St. Bernard Parish Government where he was recognized for his prestigious film work during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Away from work Kenny enjoyed all things music related. He was a member of a rock band for years where he played as the guitarist! Kenny loved music and he was no stranger to the Keyboard and guitar. He also enjoyed writing and composing various songs and musical pieces. He served as a member of his Church Music Ministry when he resided in Abita Springs, Louisiana with his family. In 2011 Kenny suffered a brain aneurysm while living in Slidell. In 2014 Kenny settled in Kaplan, Louisiana to be closer to family who could help to care for him. Kenny was loved and well cared for until the end, and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Kenny is survived by his children, Samuel Winters of Bay St. Louis, Ms. and Pearl Winters of Mandeville; his siblings, Lisa Winters Golly (Rob Golly) of Lafayette, Brian Winters of Kaplan, Jill Winters of San Antonio Texas, Juli Winters of San Antonio Texas, and Shelly Winters of Lafayette; his nices, Kristen Winters Faul of Mansura, Lindsey Winters Joshua of Lafayette, and Alexandra Winters of Rayne; his nephews, Brock Staton of San Antonio Texas, Derek Clayton of Chalmette, Justin Clayton of Mandeville, and Robert Guillot of Columbia, Tennessee; as well as his aunts and uncles, Jody Alleman Logan of Houston Texas, and Gloria and Wilson Bouillon of Kaplan. He was preceded in death by, his parents, Steve Joseph Winters and Helen Alleman Winters; his grandparents, Sidney Alleman and Eneda Schexneider Alleman, his brother, Greg "Orange" Winters, and Ricky Stephen Winters; his nephew, Ricky Stephen Winters; as well as his aunt, Jeanette Alleman Guidry. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Kaplan Home Health and Kristy and Davis Benoit of Kaplan for many years of care giving and friendship; as well as Ken's life long friend Walter Volpati of New Orleans.
