Jude Elden Duhon

Lafayette - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jude Elden Duhon, age 82, who passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in Lafayette, Louisiana. A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. Deacon Keith Duhon will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 10:00 AM until service time at Cypress Funeral Home. He was born on July 22, 1943, and was raised in Leroy, Louisiana, where he spent his early years and formed the roots that stayed with him throughout his life. Jude was the eldest of eight siblings. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lennis Duhon and Florence Billeaud Duhon, and his brother, Ray Duhon. He is survived by his siblings, Eleanor Harry, Girard Duhon, Marian Mergist, Mark Duhon, Peter Duhon, and Stephanie Crouch. He is also survived by his loving daughters: Denise Rogers and her husband Bruce, Angela Duhon, and Melissa Boyher and her husband Steve. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Trevor Duhon, Isabel Duhon, Kayla Boyher, Steven Boyher, and Jessica Boyher, along with a host of nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly. Jude spent most of his career in the finance industry, with additional time working in the oilfield. He later retired from Lafayette Consolidated Government, concluding a long and dedicated career marked by reliability and hard work. Outside of work, Jude found great joy in nature, craftsmanship, and adventure. His love of birds was well known and often evident in his conversations. He especially enjoyed woodworking and took pride in building birdhouses and bird feeders for friends and family. Jude also loved telling jokes and socializing with his friends, always enjoying good company and conversation. An avid outdoorsman, he loved camping and took great pleasure in riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle, traveling extensively throughout the United States. These journeys reflected his adventurous spirit and love for exploration. Jude will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, sense of humor, and the many simple joys he shared with those around him. His memory will live on in the lives of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Pallbearers will be Bruce Rogers, Steve Boyher, Steven Boyher, Peter Duhon, Andrew Duhon, and Benjamin Duhon. Interment will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery in Maurice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
