New Iberia - Paw Cheeto On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, John Carroll Albert, Sr passed away at the almost mature age of 82. John “Carroll” Albert, Sr. Was born to Mr. Burton & Mrs. Edmae Cormier Albert on July 26, 1944. Carroll was one of eight siblings. Having only made it to a sixth-grade education, he became very successful in his career endeavors. Carroll worked in the oilfield industry for many years. Starting as a roughneck and retiring as a consultant from Weatherford PETCO; proving that hard work and dedication will promote you in life. While in the oilfield, he was able to work alongside his son, John, for 4 years. Through the years, Carroll couldn’t sit still so he went to work for the St. Martin Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Albert worked patrol and funeral escorts. While at SMSO, Carroll worked alongside his son, Jamie, & nephew, Brian. Carroll held many professional titles, as well as family titles. He was known as Carroll to his family & friends, Daddy to his children, Pop to his stepchildren & Paw Cheeto to his grandchildren. Paw Cheeto loved mischief and adventure; he made sure his grandchildren loved it, too! When his grandchildren were younger, he would take them on trips, tell jokes, show them how to fish, hunt & play a prank or two on their parents when the opportunity striked. Carroll loved to cook and made sure everyone had a full belly before they left his house. You were either shucking oysters to earn your keep or cleaning fish, but you were leaving with a full belly and possibly even leftovers. Carroll was a very generous man, giving all he had to whoever was in his company. If God gave it to him, he gave it to those around him. As mentioned above, Carroll loved a good joke and/or prank, so in excess to above, he also loved to give those around him, a hard time! So much so that maybe his nickname should have been ‘Mischief’. These memories we have are what we will cherish forever as we keep him in our hearts. Carroll’s stories can be told by those he leaves to cherish his memories; his daughter Julie (John) Bourgeois, and two sons John Albert Jr. and Jamie ‘James’ (Trish) Albert. He will also be missed by his stepchildren; Michelle (Brian) Albert, Mark (Sonya) Weaver, Cheryl Lynn (Chad) Boutte, Crystal (Wilbert) Miguez, and Charlotte (Cody) Walden. Paw Cheeto leaves a legacy of new jokes & laughter to his grandchildren; Christine (Kelly) Funk, Brooklyn Belenger, Meghan (Brody) Denise, Kassi Bourgeois, Brock Albert, Gage Albert, Bailey Albert, Karlie Albert, Rylie Albert, Matthew Pearson, Bryce Pearson, and Brianna Pearson. Also to cherish his memory are his bonus grandchildren through his stepchildren: Tiffany, Hunter, Kylie, Yasmine, Maverick, Kyleigh, Kelsi, Krislynn, Nathan, Noah, Nick, Riley, Landon. With this many grandchildren, you know there’s a host of great-grandchildren to carry his legacy on! He is also outlived (if you’re not first, your last) by his brother Charles (Dianne) Albert and two sisters Nelda (Ted) Gohma and Della Albert. Carroll has many nieces & nephews he loved and cherished. Into Jesus’ arms before Carroll passed away are; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Burton Albert, his wife, Sharon Albert (Maw Cheeto), his wife, Carolyn Albert, his grandson, Derek Albert, stepson Lloyd Leblanc, his siblings; Douglas ‘Tee’ Albert, Lorita ‘Tot’ Mouton, Cleveland ‘Kive’ Albert, Doris ‘Dot’ Rodriguez, Harry ‘Boy’ Albert, and their spouses. Carroll did not want a funeral but would like you to celebrate him in your own way with chips and dip on July 26 as he would have made his 82nd year around the sun and may have reached the age of maturity. For now, he is at the feet of our Lord singing Holy, Holy, Holy are You Lord with the angels and our redeemed loved ones.
