Youngsville - A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Gisely “Sely” Maren Godeaux, age 42, who passed away at her residence on Wednesday, July 5, 2023, in Youngsville. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, from 11:00 am until the time of service at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. Burial will take place in the St. Paul Cemetery in Abbeville. Gisely was born on June 17, 1981, in Orange Walk Town, Belize and she was a longtime resident of Acadiana. “Mom loved to shop, go for drives, party, dress up all fancy with me, even if we didn’t go anywhere nice. She loved taking pictures, and going to Disney World. Mama always took care of others when they were upset, sick, or hurt, she always tried to help with things. She was so so so smart and always encouraged us to do well in school and go to college like her and she was always joking around, being goofy and funny. If I were to close my eyes and picture her, I would see her laughing, smiling, and doing her silly dances she would do when she got happy or exited. And I think she would want people to know that she graduated and got her MBA (Masters in Business), she would want people to know that she so so so deeply loved her husband and that was her man. She would want people to know she loved her kids so much and she was always here for us and to never mess with her kids ever, and how she is so proud of the little family she made. She is so proud of Dad & Joe for being so strong too, but she really loved her little family. And on Mom’s last days she really made every one’s day. Nobody argued that she made my grandmas day by the sentence she told her and made up with everyone before she passed. I’m really so proud of Mama, when she was here with us, she would always go for what she wanted, no matter if it was big or small and whatever she tried for she got if she wanted it bad enough. She always encouraged us to do the same. I love mama so very much and I am going to miss her so much I really don’t know what I’m going to do without her. I’m going to miss her so much at all my birthdays and on the holidays and every upcoming event. And I’m gonna miss when she called me “Gabber”. I love her so much.” – Gabby Godeaux. Gisely is survived by her loving husband of 19 years, Gary Joseph Godeaux, Jr.; her children, Gary George Godeaux and Gabriella Kirastin Godeaux; her stepdaughter, Carley Paige Godeaux; her stepgrandchildren, Caydin Aucoin, Handin Aucoin, and Annalise Aucoin; her mother, Martha Vellos Cardenas; her two brothers, Rodolfo Gaspar Cardenas and Marcio Isai Cardenas; along with a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Rodolfo Cardenas; her father-in-law, Gary Joseph Godeaux, Sr.; as well as her sister-in-law, Theresa Marie Daigle. Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W.
