Elnora "Sue" Mae Miller

Basile - Elnora (Sue) Miller, age 89, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2022, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Mother was our rock and role model, raising four children mostly by herself. Raising children alone was not an easy task, but Mom proudly did so with a loving heart (and firm hand). Mom demanded respect, cleanliness, kindness, and honesty for she knew those virtues would help guide us throughout our lives. She had little, but gave a lot. She was a loving, caring, and compassionate soul, always being there for her children. Mom loved telling stories from her younger years, reminiscing about her loving grandparents, working in the fields picking cotton, doing homework by kerosene lanterns, and dancing with her cousins! Oh, how her eyes would light up talking about those days! Mom loved spending time with her grandchildren and gleamed when speaking about them and their accomplishments. Her hobbies were playing games and working puzzles on her iPad, reading books (until she lost her eyesight), and playing Yahtzee (never missing a chance to not only beat us, but beat us in adding the die!). Mother appreciated plants, especially purple orchids and red roses. There wasn’t a person that met Mom that didn’t think she was the sweetest person they had ever met. She had an amazing sense of humor, great disposition and smile, and never missed a chance to tell us she loved us. Mom, you are and will always be truly missed. Until we join you again… (As in her words to her granddaughter), “I love you, Huzzie”. Elnora is survived by her children, Katherine Gay Amedee, Robert Wayne Clark, and Rebecca Sue McFarlain; her grandchildren, Patrick Wayne Rood, Madonna Dawn Slinker, Rosa Marie Clark, Crystal Joy Clophus, Christopher James McFarlain, Randall Brant McFarlain, Somer Dene’ Young, Jason Craig McGee, John Michael McGee, and Madison Paige Miller; her great-grandchildren, Braydyn Warren Clark-Kebodeaux, Noah Louis Slinker, Landyn Robert Slinker, Brindin Wayne Clark, Tai Jacob Clark-Matt, Neleah Julie-Ann Langley, Kyler John Clophus, Baya Julie-Ann Clophus, Hayden Christopher McFarlain, Sophia Loren McFarlain, Gabrielle Reece McFarlain, and Andrew Michael Young III; four great-great-grandchildren; her siblings, John Raymond (Tiny) Seilhan, Rose-Marie Smith, Douglas Roy Seilhan, Abby Louis Seilhan, Matilda LaComb, and Emily Fabacker; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac Raymond Seilhan and Honorine Leger Murphy; her siblings, Ruth Doucet and Shelton Seilhan; her daughter, Debra Miller; and her grandson, Neal James Rood. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the nurses, doctors, and staff of Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center, especially Dr. Dozier, Dr. Eshan and Associates, the 9th floor west tower (room 952) staff and the Special Care ICU 7th floor (room 717) intensivist and nurse. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Cozumel, Mexico. Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555, (337) 740-3123, is in charge of Cremation arrangements.
