Edward George Gavin

Erath - A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at 11:00 am in Christ's Commission Church, 120 West Lastie Street, Erath, LA 70533, for Edward “Eddie” Gavin, age 65, who passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center on Sunday, January 28, 2024, in Lafayette. Pastor Ray Lange will officiate. Edward “Eddie” Gavin was born on September 1, 1958, in Lake Charles and he was a longtime resident of Erath. Eddie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He enjoyed telling stories of the places he traveled while working as a Merchant Mariner. Eddie always marveled at all the wonders of God's creations. He became an Offshore Crane Operator working in the Gulf of Mexico. Eddie loved life, and kept his family and friends close to his heart. Most of all he loved his Heavenly Father, praising His Name until he was called into eternal glory. Eddie will be missed by all who knew him. Eddie is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Karleen Mouton Gavin; his five daughters, Jennifer, Diane and her spouse, Jeff Igielski, Janet, Katherine, and Trista; his son, Donald Gavin, Sr. and his spouse, Heather; his four step-children, Amanda, Claire, Ray, and Joseph; his 20 grandchildren, Andrew, Christian, Nolan, Jared, D.J., Lily, Brees, Cade, Callie, Elliot, John, Henry, Jakob, Amelia, Matthew, Jr., Nicolas, Kiley, Jordan, Caleb, and Everly; his eight step-grandchildren, Jalyn, Carson, Wyatt, Cylas, Karlie, Jaemeson, Rayna, and Isla; his three great-grandchildren, Aubree, Alijah, and Amelia; his step-mother, Dianne Gavin; his beloved mother-in-law, Helena Mouton; his two siblings, Kathleen Gavin and Darby Jordan and her fiancé, AJ Derise; his six nieces and nephews, John Moeller, Sammy, Brian, Amber, Ashley, and Kadence; along with a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dolores C. Snead; his father, Leo Joseph Gavin, I; his brother, Leo Joseph Gavin, II; his grandson, Colby Rukstela; as well as his nephews, Kyle W.
