Maurice - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 1:00 PM in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice for Doris Mae Hebert, 91, who passed away on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at her residence in Maurice, Louisiana. Reverend Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Assisting in the funeral Mass will be Deacon Cody Miller. The family requests that visitation be observed in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice on Thursday, August 26, 2021 from 9:30 AM until time of services. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be led by Deacon Cody Miller during the visitation on Thursday, August 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Doris Mae Broussard was born on April 29, 1930 in Lafayette Parish and she was a life long resident of Maurice. She was strong in her faith and prayed the Rosary regularly. Doris loved spending time with her children in her families restaurant "Soop's Seafood & Steakhouse". For over 40 years she and the Soop's family served the people of Maurice and the surrounding areas with amazing home cooked meals. Their restaurant was not only a place to eat, but also a focal point in the community. Over the years Soop's Restaurant became a gathering place for friends and family alike. Doris will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother who cherished spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed. Doris is survived by her children, Wanda Duhon (Ronnie) of Maurice, Wayne Hebert of Maurice, Stephanie Villien (Buzzy) of Judice, Widley "Jr" Hebert (Cindy) of Maurice, Sharon Byers (Jim) of Maurice, Rachel Hebert of Lafayette, Sammy Hebert (Ann) of Maurice, Phyllis Villien (June Decuir) of Judice, Leah Mistich (Glenn) of Belle Chase, Jennifer Jones of Lafayette, Mandy Gary (James) of Maurice; her sister, Hazel LaPointe of Lafayette; her 36 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Widley "Soop" Hebert, Sr., her parents, Alcee and Beulah Broussard; her daughter, Yvonne Hebert Shumaker; her two sisters, Hilda Broussard and Grace Credeur; her brother, Bradley Broussard; and her son in law, David Villien. Pallbearers will be Jered Duhon, Samuel Hebert, Christopher Villien, George Villien III, Jordan Hebert, Austin Shumaker, Chazz Mistich, Brenton Jones, Janson Gaspard. Burial will take place in St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.
