Maurice - A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Our Savior's Church - Midtown in Lafayette for Derek Charles Taylor, age 39, who passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024. Pastor Scott Adams will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM on Friday, July 26, 2024, at Our Savior's Church - Midtown. Derek Charles Taylor was born on July 5, 1985, in Lafayette and he was a longtime resident of Maurice. He was a member of Our Savior’s Church for the last 12 years. Derek gave his life to Christ, and his greatest love was God. He had a deep commitment to his family and spiritual life. Derek enjoyed reading, mostly theology, to learn everything he could about his Heavenly Father. He enjoyed sharing his wealth of knowledge by leading small groups and leading others to Christ. Not only was Derek's life dedicated to God, he cherished and adored his family. He was an amazing husband, father, son and friend. Derek was always willing to pray with anyone around him that needed his guidance and spiritual words of encouragement. He worked for Cadarath Aerospace for the last 12 years as a Quality Control Director. He loved his job. Derek will be dearly missed. "Your love and light will forever guide us. We take comfort knowing that you are at peace in the arms of Your Father" Derek Charles Taylor is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Jamie Michelle Taylor; his children, Hailley Taylor of Abbeville, Skyleigh Taylor of Maurice, Ezsmey Taylor of Maurice, Kaydence "Toota Bug" Taylor of Maurice, and Isaiah Dan Taylor of Maurice; his mother, Della Marie Richard; his step-father, Blake Richard; his brother, Brandon Taylor (April) of Sandy, Texas; his uncles, Dale Foreman (Debbie "Taunt"), Charles "Reid" Taylor (Malia); his aunts, Debbie Foreman and Deidra Leblanc (Bobby); his godchild, Kelsey Cormier (Dylan); as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Pryor Taylor; his maternal grandparents, Maurice "Mo" Foreman, Jr. and Elise Foreman; his paternal grandparents, Charles "Rock" Taylor and Mildred Taylor; as well as his uncle, Irvin Adkins. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to their church family at Our Saviors Church; as well as Pastor Scott Adams who Derek proudly called his pastor and friend. The family also wishes to thank all of Derek's family members and friends who have been there for him and his family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W.
