David Louis Hubbell

Lafayette - A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at The Blue Moon Saloon in Lafayette for David Louis Hubbell, age 62, who passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, September 7, 2023, in Lafayette. David was born in Lafayette and spent the majority of his life there, with the exception of a few years lived out in California. He dedicated his life to music- cultivating, enjoying, and sharing it with others. David was well known in the Lafayette music industry. He was a disc jockey on numerous radio stations, owned a record store turned music venue, and was proud to be considered a music aficionado. David lived to share the gift of music and was always happy to introduce you to a new band or album that he had discovered. His musical knowledge was impressive and through that, he was able to influence many lives in this town. David had many friendships which he treasured. He was an amateur historian, and had a robust sense of humor. David was generous, wise, patient, and loving. He was sensitive and emotionally honest and so very smart. David had a gift for communication, which served him well in his radio career. He was totally hip in a way that defied age and he was incredibly open minded. David loved John Coltrane and Joni Mitchell, he loved heavy rain and Saints games. David liked Community Coffee and Coca-Cola and joked that he was allergic to accordions. His favorite vegetable was a Hershey bar with almonds and his biggest pride and source of joy was his children and grandchildren. David knew that every day was a gift. David is survived by his children, Kimberly Yoder and her husband, Joshua, Angela Hubbell, Christian Hubbell, and Melissa Barton; his sister, Kitty Credeur and her husband, Timmy; his mother, Geraldine Hubbell; his ten grandchildren who loved their “Gum Gum” very much. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Gerald Hubbell. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of David Louis Hubbell to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, www.stjude.org.
