Maurice - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice for Cecile Comeaux, age 88, who passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, in Maurice, LA. Rev. Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, will be the Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral services. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM in the Cypress Chapel. Cecile was born on June 30, 1938, in Abbeville, Louisiana, and was a lifelong resident of Vermilion Parish. Cecile will always be remembered for her kind and generous heart, her strong faith, and her desire to help others whenever possible. Some of her happiest moments were spent cooking and sharing meals with friends, especially going out to eat on Saturdays with her friends, a tradition she truly enjoyed. She also loved traveling, seeing new places, and making wonderful memories along the way. Cecile treasured the time she spent at her camp in Hackberry, where she could relax, enjoy the outdoors, and spend time with those she loved. She also found great joy in creating beautiful things through her passion for sewing. Above all, family was at the center of everything. Cecile deeply loved and supported her husband, standing by his side and sharing a life filled with love, devotion, and cherished memories. She had a deep and unconditional love for her children and grandchildren, who brought her endless joy and pride. Her love, faith, kindness, and the many special memories she shared with family and friends will forever remain in our hearts. The beautiful legacy Cecile left behind will continue to live on through everyone whose life she touched. Cecile is survived by her children, Phyllis C. Clark and her husband Ricky Clark of Maurice, Marty Comeaux of Leroy, and Richard Comeaux and his wife Carolyn of Maurice; her grandchildren, Ashley Clark (Heather) of Maurice, Amber Clark of Maurice, Nia Jones, Cody Comeaux (Danielle) of Milton, Donnell Comeaux, and Rogell Comeaux; her great-grandchildren, Kai Comeaux, Jackson Stoute, Bryson Lege, Molly Menard, Shane Broussard, Julia Broussard, and Eli Comeaux; her siblings, Jeanette Montet Legar, Beverly Montet Trahan, and Curtis Montet of Maurice; along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Comeaux; her mother, Bertha Broussard Montet; her father, Philip Montet; and her daughter-in-law, Kathy Comeaux. Pallbearers will be Jackson Stoute, Cody Comeaux, Richard Comeaux, Marty Comeaux, Kai Comeaux, and Ricky Clark. The Comeaux family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to her sitters, who spent her final days making sure she was comfortable, and to her close friends, who were always there to keep her company and spend time with her on the phone. The family also wishes to thank the teams at Ochsner Cancer Center of Acadiana, Southern Urology, and Heart of Hospice for the exceptional service they provided. Entombment will be held in the Mausoleum of St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
