Annie Mae Hebert Smith

Youngsville- Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, in the Chapel of Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Annie Mae Ponville Hebert Smith, age 96, who passed away on May 26, 2023, in Lafayette. She was a resident of Youngsville and formerly of Sulphur. Deacon Ricky Picard and Deacon Minos J. Ponville Jr. will conduct the services. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Cypress Chapel. A Rosary will be prayed at 2:00 PM. Born December 17, 1926 in Abbeville, she was the middle child born to Camille and Edna Sellers Ponville. She was a graduate of Abbeville High School. She married Adrian "Joe" Hebert and they were the proud parents of their only child, Connie. Annie Mae and Joe were married until his death in 1969. She loved the library and spent many years volunteering there. In fact, she met her second husband, Howard Smith, at the library. She and Howard enjoyed many years together, including time at the fishing camp on Bundick Lake, until his death in 2002. In addition to her many years of volunteer work at both the Sulphur Library and West CalCam Hospital, she was also an active member of the Homemakers Club. Annie Mae loved to travel and was always ready for another adventure, which she definitely shared that love with her daughter. Her last few years were spent in Youngsville at the BeeHive Assisted Living Facility where she loved being part of the family there. She is survived by her daughter Connie Hebert LeBlanc, Her granddaughter Adrienne LeBlanc Garber and her husband "Bubbie", as well as her great grandson Anderson Garber. In addition, her nieces Cathy Picard, Betty Boudreaux, and Bonnie LeBlanc. Her nephews Minos Jr, Paul, and Guy Ponville, and Barry Hebert. Also a host of very special friends. She lived a beautiful life, full of love. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Velta Ponville Bodin, and her brother Minos Ponville, Sr. and his wife, Frances. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery in Abbeville. The family thanks Hospice's Calcutta House, as well as a very special thank you to Davis Corbett, Rachel Hoffpauir, and the staff at the BeeHive for the extraordinary care and love they gave her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her name to Hospice of Acadiana. Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W.
