Wanda "Faye" Davis Whitson

June 4, 1927 - December 11, 2021

Lafayette - A Memorial Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church in Lafayette for Wanda Faye Davis Whitson, age 94, who passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Visitation will held on Tuesday, January 4, 2021 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM at Asbury United Methodist Church. Wanda Faye Davis was born on June 4, 1927 in Hamilton County, Illinois and she was a resident of Lafayette for over 44 years. She was a great friend. Many many people called her a surrogate sister or mother. Always there with a smile and a shoulder to lean on. She loved to knit, work in the yard and watch sports on TV. Each grandchild has an afghan made specifically for them. She was especially proud of her flower beds. And one of the last things she had to say in the hospital was how excited she was that the coach from Notre Dame was going to LSU. She loved her church. She rarely missed a Sunday, helped regularly with mail outs to members, and often took baked goods to the staff. She will be dearly missed by family and friends. Faye is survived by her son, Phillip Whitson (Scott Royster-husband); her grandchildren, LeAnna Peters (Joseph), Douglas Borst (Missy), Rebecca Branson, Brandon Whitson (Darcey), and Brittany Shuffield (Andrew); her great grandchildren, Lily, Peyton, Lincoln, and Alana Borst, Brenda Wood (Jacob), Caleb and Nicole Peters, Landone, Tristen, Daymien, Serenity, and Skyla Branson, Madison Calabrese and her husband David, Thomas Sowers, Ryahn Whitson, Taylyn and Braylee Shuffield; her great great grandchildren, Estelle Wood, and Georgia Sexton; her son in law, Lee Borst; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gerald Eugene Whitson; her daughter, Brenda Kay Borst; her parents, William Alfred Davis and Mabel Pearl Wageneck; her brothers, Wayne Davis, Wilford Davis, Henry Davis, and Charles Davis; her sister, Evelyn Kinnard; as well as her daughter in law, Sandra Whitson. The family wishes to extend a special Thank You to all of those who prayed for Wanda and her family during this time.
