Lafayette - Simon “Pooch” Jolivette, age 68, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 23, 2022, at his residence in Lafayette, LA. Simon “Pooch” Jolivette was born on February 7, 1954, in Lafayette, LA and was a long-time resident of Lafayette Parish. He relished in telling jokes that would cause laughter for days and his smile would always brighten up a room. Simon enjoyed collectables, listening to music, assembling model cars, and driving remote-controlled vehicles. He also had a passion for growing bonsai trees, caring for various birds, and maintaining aquariums that were stocked with beautiful fish. Simon had a special place in his heart for his dog and reveled in reminiscing about the old days. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. Simon was affectionately known by his family as “Uncle Pooch” and will be missed and remembered by many. Simon is survived by his sister, Eva Dell Jolivette Sonnier and her husband, James; seven nieces; two nephews; a host of beloved great-nieces and nephews; as well as his long-time friend, Linda Richard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elvina and Antoine Jolivette; sister, Elzina Jolivette Sonnier; and brothers, Morris, Rodney “Tee”, and Bradley Jolivette. The Jolivette family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to Linda Richard for staying by Simon’s side until the very end as well as all of the doctors and nurses that helped him in the last days of his life.
