Mr. Sherry James Duhon

Maurice - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 2:00 pm in St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton, LA for Sherry James Duhon, age 86, who passed away peacefully at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice on Friday, September 30, 2022, in Lafayette, LA. Reverend Donald Bernard of St. Edward Catholic Church in New Iberia, LA will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 3, 2022, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm at Cypress Funeral Home Chapel in Maurice, LA. A Rosary will be recited on Monday, October 3, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Cypress Funeral Home Chapel in Maurice. Entombment will take place in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Milton, LA. Sherry was born on April 12, 1936, in Lafayette, LA and he was a lifelong resident of Acadiana. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School in 1955. Sherry served his country in the Louisiana National Guard & the Army Reserve, he was a baseball coach for many years, and he spent his entire career working as a draftsman in the oil and gas industry. He also enjoyed bowling with his wife and friends. Sherry was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be dearly missed. Sherry is survived by his six children, Cheryl Meaux (Lester) of Abbeville, Cathy Duhon of Duson, Deacon Keith Duhon (Lisa) of Milton, Kevin Duhon (Annette) of Rayne, Kent Duhon (Anissa) of Maurice, and Kern Duhon (Ashley) of Maurice; his grandchildren, Jimmy Sandridge, Jessica Sandridge, Katrina Delahoussaye, Joshua Duhon, Spencer Duhon, Victoria Thibodeaux, Abbie Hamm, Chance Duhon, Bryce Duhon, Trae Duhon, Brock Duhon, Makaile Duhon, and Blaze Duhon; his 16 great-grandchildren; along with a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Hebert Duhon; his parents, Arthur Duhon, Sr. and Emile Guidry Duhon; his seven siblings, Alcide Duhon, Alcee Duhon, Robert Duhon, Dalton Duhon, Ray Duhon, Arthur Duhon, Jr., and Lucy Duhon Miller. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Sandridge, Joshua Duhon, Spencer Duhon, Trae Duhon, Blaze Duhon, and Chance Duhon. Honorary pallbearer will be Lester Meaux. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice and Camelot of Broussard Assisted Living for the care and compassion they offered Sherry and his family during his time of need.
