Henderson - Milfred “Blackie” Nunez of Henderson, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2022 in Opelousas, Louisiana at the age of 82. Milfred was born on September 21, 1939 to the late Edwin “Pat” and Elvina Nunez in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was a life long resident of St. Bernard Parish until after Hurricane Katrina. “Blackie” spent endless hours over the years hunting, fishing, and trapping on the beautiful waterways of St. Bernard Parish. His love of the water brought him to work at Halter Marine as a foreman/painter for many years, then he worked for B&B Dredging, and finally opened a mechanic shop later in life. Blackie also loved his New Orleans Saints and supported the Who Dat Nation since they were inaugurated in 1967. His positive outlook and humorous heart left an impression wherever he went. Over the years, he had become an amazing jack of all trades and used his God given abilities to help anyone in need. He had an incredible work ethic that will forever be remembered. "Blackie" is survived by the mother of his children, Mae Villemarette Nunez, and his two children, Melissa Lana Nunez (Grayson) and Keith Raymond Nunez (Michelle). his grandchildren, Devin Nunez, Jeremie Nunez (Chrissy), Nicholas Nunez, and Victoria Nunez; his great grandchildren, Suki, Tyler, and Elijah; his siblings, Mary Louise Nunez, and Mary Alice Nunez; he is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends (Ricky, Terry, Norris), and his beloved dog, Girl. He was preceded in death by his wife Charlotte “Pudding” Nunez., as well as his siblings, Leslie Nunez, Edwin Nunez Jr., Jean Mandola, Bobby Nunez, Gladys Nunez, Terry Nunez, and Walter Nunez. The family wishes to thank everyone at Louisiana Palliative Care and Hospice for all of your kindness and support. Also, a heartfelt thanks to his friends Craig and Pauline Latiolais, Mrs. Betty and the late Joe Latiolais for all of your love and graciousness. Finally, we are so grateful for Pastors Benhail and Cicily Chris for all of their love, visiting, and prayers during this difficult time. May God bless all of you!
