Lona Soirez Romero Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Erath- A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, at 2:00 pm in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Delcambre, LA. for Lona Romero, age 74, who passed away peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2022, in Maurice, Louisiana. Father Don Bernard will conduct the funeral services. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 5, 2022, from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm in Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. A Rosary will be recited at 1:00 pm in the church. Lona Romero was born on April 19, 1948, in Abbeville, Louisiana and she was a lifelong resident of Erath. She graduated from Erath Highschool in 1966 and thru the years she worked as a Teachers Assistant at Dosier Elementary and also a substitue at the public Library. In her later years she worked as a clerk at Super 1 Foods in Abbeville. In her spare time Lona loved to read, and she enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Lona was also an animal lover, she leaves behind her special dog "Beauty". More than anything Lona was a mother and a grandmother, she will be dearly missed. Lona is survived by her children, Tracie Renard and her spouse Duff of Delcambre, and Timothy “Timmy” Romero of Erath; her grandchildren, Jake Renard, Cade Renard, and Austin Romero; her siblings, Deanna Soirez of Erath, and Michael Soirez and his spouse Nelwyn of Erath. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Johnny Romero; her parents, Lawless Soirez and Verna Dronet; and her grandson, Brandon Renard. Pallbearers will be: Cade Renard, Jake Renard, Brennan Soirez, Timothy Romero, Guillaume Gilbert, and Clement Simoneaux III. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeremy Soirez. Entombment will take place in the Mausoleum of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Cemetery in Delcambre. The Romero family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the Nurses, Doctors and Staff at Pelican Pointe Nursing Home; as well as Community Hospice for the care and compassion they offered Ms. Lona during her time of need.
