Karen Marie Borel Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Catahoula - Karen Marie Borel, age 62, passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette, Louisiana. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date in St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula. Karen Marie Lasseigne was born on August 18, 1959 in St. Martinville and she was a life long resident of St. Martin Parish. She was a graduate of St. Martinville Senior High class of 1977. Karen was always a very caring woman who did everything she could for her family. She was known for putting other people before herself. She enjoyed spending time gardening and growing flowers. She was a great cook and enjoyed being in her kitchen. One of her favorite dishes to make for others was her famous chicken stew. Above all Karen was a loving wife and mother; She adored her children and grandchildren more than anything else in this world. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends. Karen is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Byron Borel of Catahoula; her children, Shelley Theriot (Buddy) of Catahoula, Keely Borel of Catahoula, Kent Borel (Brooke) of Catahoula, Blaine Borel (Jade) of Catahoula; her grandchildren; Nathan and Jonah Theriot, Kennedy and Gracie Broussard, Brooklyn Berthelot, and Carter and Peyton Borel; her siblings, Willis "Bill" Lasseigne Jr. (Janice), Kim Lasseigne (Lynn), Lisa Bergeron (Albert), Paula Champagne (Charley), and Clayton Lasseigne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis Lasseigne Sr. and Elsie Boudreaux Lasseigne; as well as her in-laws, Waldo Borel Sr. and Odile Borel.
