Iona Ardoin Venable Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lafayette - Iona Ardoin Venable, 69, passed away on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 26, 2021 from 1:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice, and Continuing Saturday Morning at 8:00 until time of Services. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. Iona was born on December 4, 1951 in Ville Platte, Louisiana and was a lifelong resident of Lafayette. She was the daughter of Herbert Ardoin, Sr. and Bernadette Brown Ardoin and the youngest of seven children. Her love of life was contagious and felt by anyone who knew her. She always had a smile on her face, advice for anyone needing it, a place for anyone to stay, and most definitely, a warm plate of food - to know her was to love her. The bond she shared with so many people was truly amazing and not a one was the same. How she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and so looked forward to the arrival of her two great-grandchildren, Charleigh and Piper. Iona is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bernard Venable, her son Michael Boudreaux of Lafayette, Lynn Venable of Lafayette, Daisy Duhon and her husband, Chad of Carencro; grandchildren Ethan Jacquneaux, Alexis Boudreaux, Gar Boudreaux, Bas Boudreaux, Devan Venable, Chazz Venable, and Brittany Duhon; seven great-grandchildren Ella, Blake, Arianna, Nala, Nataleigh, Layla, and Elijah; two sisters Lucy Moreau of Lafayette, and Eloise Gauthier of Lafayette. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Ardoin, Sr. and Bernadette Brown Ardoin, sisters Doris Ware, Maris Broussard; brothers Joseph Ardoin, Herbert Ardoin, Jr.; son Ronnie Venable; and great-grand daughter, Olivia Bernard. Pallbearers will be Lynn Venable, Chad Duhon, Ethan Jacquneaux, Gar Boudreaux, Bas Boudreaux, and Chazz Venable. Honorary Pallbearers will be Scott Venable, Derek Venable, Peter Gauthier, and Michael Broussard. Burial will follow in the Ardoin Cemetery in Praire Ronde.
