Harold John Broussard

Lafayette - A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, at 11:00 am in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice for Harold John Broussard, age 87, who passed away peacefully at his residence. Father Paul Bienvenu, pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 19, 2023, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Harold John Broussard, more affectionately known as Dad, Paw, and Nonc Harold, took his last labored breath at 4:00 am on Friday, May 12, 2023. Harold was born in Lafayette, LA on April 15, 1936. Harold was the son of Elus Broussard and the former, Lucille LeBlanc Racca. On January 27, 1957, Harold married the love of his life Lorita Baudoin. They had three children and were married for 66 years prior to his death. He was employed by Saia Trucking, Red Ball Trucking and Yellow Freight Trucking as a truck driver. After tending to the needs of others, especially his devoted wife, Harold was cared for by his loved ones who had once relied on him. Harold was an unyielding man, not wavering in his beliefs and principles. He always said what was on his mind or how he felt about a topic or situation. Harold lived 87 years and was a pillar of the community and a cornerstone of his family. He had many stories to tell, which one could sit and listen to him for hours. He was selfless and spent the majority of his lifetime making sure all others were taken care of and would do anything for anybody. His sense of humor was one of the last remnants of his humanity to leave him. He wasn’t one to laugh easily but when he did laugh it was genuine, and it delighted all who heard it. His chair at the table of life is empty now, but a more glorious seat in heaven awaits him. You will always be loved and missed. Harold is survived by his wife, Lorita Baudoin Broussard; his daughter, Katie Marie Hebert; his two sons, Michael Keith Broussard (Leah) and Bryan Paul Broussard (Ellie); his two grandchildren, Gregory John Folse, Jr. (Brook) and Amanda Marie Suzanne Folse; his two great-grandchildren, David Cole Comeaux and Amanda Cali Comeaux; and his sister, Mildred Broussard Gary. He is preceded in death by his parents, Elus Broussard and the former Lucille LeBlanc; his two sisters, Evela Thibodeaux and Hazel Reeves; as well as his brother, Raywood Broussard. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in memory of Harold John Broussard to Hospice of Acadiana, www.hospiceacadiana.com. The family would like to extend a special thanks to his caregiver, Margaret (Caido) Domec for countless hours spent providing companionship and care also with the help of Juanita Romero as well as Hospice of Acadiana for the care and kindness given to Harold and his family during his final days.
