Geraldine "Geri" Rougeau Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Maurice- A “Celebration of Life” will be held on Friday, April 30, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice, for Geraldine “Geri” Rougeau, age 67, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at her residence with her family by her side. Geraldine “Geri” Morein was born on July 10, 1953 in Lake Charles. She was a long-time resident of Sulphur and had lived in Maurice for the last 8 years. Geri had the biggest heart in the world, she loved Jesus, she loved her husband, she loved life, she loved her children, and she dearly loved her grandchildren. She was a strong woman, a go-getter, she loved to work, she worked hard and became a registered nurse by sheer determination. All the while raising three children, being a wife and working as an LPN. Geri studied her nursing lessons at home and worked in conjunction with McNeese University to earn credits in all the subjects needed to become an RN. She then went to Ohio to pass her final clinicals and achieve her goal. She was also a fighter she fought Parkinson’s for 20 years and never let it get her down mentally. More than anything Geri was a loving wife, and a devoted mother and a grandmother. She was married to her Soulmate for more than 50 wonderful years, with a type of Love that never dies. We remain comforted by her faith, and knowing that after waiting nearly 7 months, she was finally able to give that “BIG” hug that she so often spoke about to her beloved son Brandon. Geri will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Geri is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Darrell Rougeau of Maurice; her children, Derek Paul Rougeau of Maurice, and Kimberley Lea (Allen) of McKinney Texas; her grandchildren, Emma, Kingsley, Abbey, Jilly, Ariana, Maddie, Peyton, Addison and Emily; her siblings, Jimmy Morein (Debbie), David Morein (Shirley), Janice Hebert (Butch), Linda Kohler, Ronnie Morein (Melissa), Barbara Bundy, and Geneva Shallow. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elvin Morein and Lilly Fruge Morein; her son, Brandon Rougeau; and her siblings, Joe Morein Jr., Mary Ann Fruge, and Judy Morein.
