Eleanor Gaspard Breaux Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Abbeville - A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 10:00 am in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville for Eleanor Gaspard Breaux, age 84, who passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2022, in Abbeville, Louisiana. Rev. Louis Richard pastor of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 8:00 am until 10:00 am in St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 am. Eleanor Gaspard Breaux was born on June 23, 1938, in Vermilion parish and she was a lifelong resident of Acadiana. She devoted her life to caring for others, most importantly her family. Her faith was central to how she lived her life and she was a devout Catholic She was an advocate for patients with Alzheimer's disease, with her mother's diagnosis leading her to start the Vermillion Parish Alzheimer's Association to provide support to other families as well. She was a gifted artist and avid gardener. She held jobs from Assistant Secretary for the Naval base to working for the Registrar of Voters, Housing Authority, and Sheriff's office for Vermillion Parish, but her most important role was always mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, and everyone who knew her knew how much she cherished all of her family. She was a loving wife to her husband of 52 years, Oswald Breaux, and together they raised three children and were blessed with eight grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. She and Oswald enjoyed camping with friends and hosting cookouts for family. She will be missed by all who knew her and leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and hope. Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Oswald Breaux of Abbeville; her children, Thad C. Theall (spouse Theresa Theall), Martin A. “Marty” Theall (spouse Jackie Theall), and Bobbi Kaye Fontenot (spouse Doug Fontenot); her grandchildren, Christopher Theall, Sarah Thibodeaux, Stephen Theall, Jenna Timberlake, Lyndi Duhon, Natalee Deranger, Silas Boutte, Hillary Broussard; as well as her great-grandchildren, Lyla Theall, Dakota Theall, Owen Theall, Benjamin Theall, Bailee Theall, Judah Theall, Eliana Grace, Lucas Duhon, Liv Duhon, Lois Duhon, Paisley Thibodeaux, Denim Thibodeaux, Jack Deranger, Rorey Deranger, John Broussard, Ella Broussard. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.C. “Cliff” and Louisa Gaspard; and her brother, Russell Gaspard.
