William "Gary" Clark

Patterson - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson for William "Gary" Clark, age 69, who passed away on Saturday, November 29, 2025 in Lafayette. Fr. Herb Bennerfield III will be the celebrant. A rosary will be prayed at 1:30 PM on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Patterson. Gary was born on March 17, 1956 in Alexandria and he was a longtime resident of Patterson. He married his true love, devoted and loving wife, Judy, on June 14, 1975. Together they had many ‘babies in fur’ over the years and Sheba, Jada, Holly, Tootsie, and Strayman will be awaiting to welcome him to Heaven. Gary enjoyed fishing, hunting, and training his many labrador retrievers over the years. He was an excellent marksman, as he competed in many shoots, and assisted in raising funds for special initiatives. He was an extreme LSU football and baseball fan, and attended games and championships. He began his career as a welder in the 1970’s, which gave him the foundation to becoming an Oilfield Sales and Business Development representative, where he made many friends throughout the country. Gary is survived by his black lab, Teal, who was his loving and devoted companion; his siblings, Gloria Pittman (Floyd), Elizabeth Elise Marler (Bob), and Bud Clark (Glenda); Janet Wallace (Mike), Lilly Brammer, and Billie Jo Broussard (Dan); his Godchildren, Tish Carpenter Williams, Chris Carpenter, Terresa Marler Dipuma, and Brittany Jo Foote; Gary had a lineage of many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. He attended many events of his nieces and nephews through the years, and always had advice for them on hunting, fishing and sports. He was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Julia "Judy" Ann Carpenter Clark; his parents, Earl E. Clark Sr. and Geneva Flournoy Clark; his mother-in-law, Mamie Glaviano Carpenter; as well as his father-in-law, Ben Allen Carpenter. Pallbearers: Chris Carpenter, Ben Peart, Chad Foote, Jeremy Foote, and Jason Pittman. Honorary Pallbearers: Christopher Carpenter, Nicholas Carpenter, Baylor Purvis, Brody Foote, Andy Patrick, Banks Moore, and Garrison Moore. The family would like to give a special thanks to loving family members who have helped caretake Gary and his beloved Labrador’s these past twelve years. We are grateful for the care and compassion of the medical staff at Lourdes Hospital and AMG/Park Place in Lafayette who cared for and about him.
