Lafayette - A Memorial Service to celebrate Billy’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at Covenant Methodist Church, located at 300 E Martial Ave. Lafayette, Louisiana 70508. Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM, with the memorial service immediately following at 2:00 PM. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend as they gather to celebrate Billy’s life, share cherished memories, rejoice in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. While our hearts mourn his passing, we find comfort in knowing that Billy is now at peace in the presence of his Savior. His love, laughter, unwavering faith, and kind spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. With heavy hearts, but with the peace and assurance of God's promise of eternal life, we announce that William Conrad "Billy" Tomlin, age 74, entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 15, 2026. Billy was born on October 4, 1951, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Vance Lahoma Tomlin, Sr. and Nora Lee Conrad Tomlin. Raised in New Orleans, Billy attended John F. Kennedy Sr. High School, where, during his junior year, he met the love of his life, Elaine Rideau. Billy was a proud member of the Theda Kappa Delta fraternity, while Elaine was a member of the Beta Delta Pi sorority. What began as a high school romance blossomed into a lifetime of unwavering love, devotion, and partnership. Billy and Elaine were married in July of 1979 and shared 47 beautiful years together. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, faith, and commitment. Together they built a wonderful life and were blessed with two daughters, Megan Frances Tomlin and Brinden Nora Tomlin, who were the pride and joy of their lives. Following their marriage, Billy and Elaine made Lafayette, Louisiana, their home, where Billy joined his three brothers, Vance Lahoma Tomlin, Jr., Robert Aubrey Tomlin, and Richard McKinstry Tomlin, as a partner in the family's well-known printing business, Copy Data of Lafayette. As an exceptionally talented printer technician, Billy earned a reputation for his remarkable ability to repair printers and copiers with precision and expertise. He took tremendous pride in his work, and through his dedication, integrity, and tireless work ethic, he helped contribute to the success and respected reputation of the family business. He believed in doing every job with excellence and found fulfillment in serving both his customers and his family. Outside of work, Billy embraced life with enthusiasm and gratitude. He found great joy in restoring classic Volkswagen Beetles, spending countless hours bringing them back to life with the same patience and craftsmanship he demonstrated throughout his career. He had a deep appreciation for history and could often be found enjoying a good history book. Billy was an avid coffee lover, never turning down the opportunity to enjoy a fresh cup while sharing stories, laughter, or meaningful conversations with family and friends. More than anything else, Billy cherished his family. Becoming a grandfather was one of the greatest blessings of his life, and his grandchildren brought immeasurable happiness to his heart. Whether spending time together, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company, those moments became treasured memories that his family will forever hold close. Billy never met a stranger. His warm smile, welcoming spirit, and genuine kindness made people feel instantly at ease. He possessed a fun-loving nature and a quick wit that could brighten any room. His infectious sense of humor, generous heart, and ability to make lasting friendships left an unforgettable impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Billy had a rare gift for making others feel valued and loved, and his life was enriched by the countless friendships he formed throughout the years. Above all else, Billy was a man of faith. While his family grieves the loss of his earthly presence, they find comfort in knowing that he has been welcomed into the eternal presence of Jesus Christ. Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in the promise that, because of God's amazing grace, death is not the end but the beginning of everlasting life. Billy's faith has become sight, and we find peace in knowing he is whole, healed, and at home with his Savior. Billy leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, integrity, laughter, and unwavering devotion to his family. His gentle spirit, steadfast character, and selfless love will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. Though he will be deeply missed every day, the memories he created and the love he shared will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Billy is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Elaine Rideau Tomlin; his loving daughters, Megan Frances Tomlin and Brinden Nora Tomlin; his cherished grandchildren, Scott Jude Lee, Jr., Ayden Mason Lee, and Donald William Sharpe; his brothers, Vance Lahoma Tomlin, Jr., Robert Aubrey Tomlin, and Richard McKinstry Tomlin; (Bonnie Roper Tomlin); his nieces and nephews, Casey Tomlin (Aimee), Derek Tomlin (Mindy), Kristal Tomlin, Adam Tomlin, and Brittney Tomlin; along with many extended family members, lifelong friends, and all whose lives were touched by his kindness, friendship, and love. Billy was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Vance Lahoma Tomlin, Sr. and Nora Lee Conrad Tomlin, and by his nephew, Robert Aubrey Tomlin, Jr. Although Billy's earthly journey has come to an end, the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the example he set will endure for generations to come. His family takes comfort in the words of Scripture: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day..." — 2 Timothy 4:7–8 Until we meet again, Billy, your love remains our greatest blessing, your memory our greatest treasure, and your faith our greatest comfort.
