Tommy Dale Choate

Port Barre - Tommy Dale Choate, age 77, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 23, 2024, in Lafayette. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Tommy Dale Choate was born on March 22, 1947, in New Iberia and he was a longtime resident og Port Barre. He was a man of many interests and talents. Tommy was mostly a salesman by trade primarily of plumbing supplies to construction and pluming contractors and owned a plumbing supply store. Other professions included bakery work and cake decorating, photography and film developing, and fiberglass bathtub and watercraft hull patch/repairs. Tommy's many hobbies included golfing, bowling, boating, fishing, crabbing, trawling, camping, dancing, and playing washboard and drums. He also had a great love of professional football with the New Orleans Saints being his favorite team. Tommy will be dearly missed. Tommy is survived by his children, Troy Choate (Pamela) of Columbus OH, Rachelle Choate of New Iberia LA, and Jason Choate of Erath, LA; his grandchildren, Kyle Choate, Garrett Choate, Way Stark, Haley Louviere, Cason Leblanc, Kelsey Choate, Jason Choate II, and Jalynn Choate; his great-grandchildren, Regan Choate, Paisley Choate, Trevor Stark, and Emma Leigh Blaze; his siblings, Brad Choate, Timothy Choate, and Michael Choate; as well as a multitude of extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Murphy and Mary Choate; his brothers, Eugene “Patrick” and David Choate; as well as his grandson, Todd Louviere. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to Tommy’s loving and committed significant other, Dolly Marks; cousins Owen and Margaret Derouen for years of love and close friendship; the entire caring staff at The Carpenter House in Lafayette; as well as all family and friends who gave love, support, and prayers to his children during Tommy’s time of illness.
