Erath - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 3:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Erath, LA for Terran James Menard, affectionately known as “Pet-O,” age 70, who passed away peacefully at his home in Erath on Saturday, July 5, 2025. Rev. Clinton Sensat, Pastor of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, will Celebrate the Mass. The family requests that visitation be observed on Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Tim Marcantel at 2:30 p.m. Inurnment will take place at a later date during a private family ceremony. Terran is survived by his loving wife, Darlene “Sissy” Menard; his children: Sadie Menard Suire and her husband Shane Suire of Erath, Amy Menard Courvelle of Lafayette, Erica Menard Racca and her husband Kevin Racca of Erath, and Trent Menard and his wife Callie Hulin Menard of Erath; and his cherished grandchildren: Sage Suire, Adalyn Racca, Ella Racca, Ava Racca, Asher Menard, and a grandchild, Walker Menard, expected in July 2025. He is also survived by his sister, Connie Menard Mason, and her husband Wayne Mason of Erath; niece and godchild Stacey Mason, and nephew Jarad Mason and wife Kim; mother-in-law Brenda Broussard; sister-in-law Ann Nerran and her children; and brother-in-law Dave Broussard and wife Kellie Broussard and their children. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Alton Menard and Carrie Ann Menard, and his father-in-law David Broussard and his wife Ellen. Born and raised in Erath, Louisiana, Terran graduated from Erath High School in 1973. His career spanned decades in the oil and gas industry, working with Union Oil, Luke’s Construction, and C&M Trucking Company. He later became a co-owner of a local gas and service station with his father and owned a trucking and transportation company, Menard’s Trucking Company. Most recently, he was employed by Enviro Resources, where he worked until the time of his passing. Terran had a deep love for horses and possessed a natural gift in handling racehorses, leading to many victories at tracks across Louisiana. Known for his playful nature and feisty spirit, he cherished time spent with family and friends—whether it was at the ballpark, camping, RV trips, opening weekend at the movies, traveling in his Jeep, or cruising in his Corvette. His presence lit up every room, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew and loved him. Pallbearers will be Sage Suire, Jarad Mason, Josh Cornner, Timmy Trahan, Guy Nerren, and Jacob Landry. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Jacob Landry for the compassion and unwavering friendship he extended to Pet-O over the years. As we say goodbye, we lift “Pet-O” up in prayer, trusting that he is at peace in the presence of our Lord. We entrust Terran to God‘s loving care, and pray for the day we are reunited in the light of His eternal grace. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W.
