Sheila Talbot Guidry

Duson - Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at 6:00 PM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Sheila Talbot Guidry, age 71, who passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022, at her residence in Duson. Deacon Cody Miller will conduct the funeral services. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the Cypress Chapel. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 PM. Sheila was born on February 28, 1951, in Lafayette, Louisiana, and remained a lifelong resident of Lafayette Parish. Sheila worked for the State of Louisiana for 28 years following that she worked at Sterling Properties for many years. Sheila was a loving mother and grandmother. Sheila had a special place in her heart for her only grandson, Reece who affectionately called her “Buddy”. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandson and family members. Sheila had a special love for her nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews dearly. She was the “baby whisperer” for all of them. If there was a baby around, Sheila had them on her hip. Sheila loved Mardi Gras; If there was a parade in town, you could guarantee she was either riding in it or attending it. Sheila also loved cooking and was wonderful at it. She would bring her favorite dish to every family event and the leftovers were always sought out by many. Sheila is survived by her daughter Dorothy “Dori” Guidry of Duson, one grandson, Reece Paul Seneca, three brothers, Dennis Talbot of Lafayette, Duke Talbot (Cheryl) of Lafayette, Dyke Talbot (Anne) of Carencro, and one sister, Shannon Emmer (Michael) of Bossier City; sister-in-law, Dru Talbot of Lafayette; nieces and nephews, Drake Talbot Jr., Derrick Talbot, Danielle Talbot, Stephanie Hanks, Staci Talbot, Sarah Talbot Parham, Sheri Talbot, Kelli Talbot Melancon, Kimberlee Talbot, Laci Talbot, Brandon Emmer, and Amanda Emmer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy Talbot and Dorothy Nezat Talbot, her brother Drake Talbot, and nephew William Talbot.
