Sandra Davis

Lafayette - Sandra Davis, 76, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2026, at The Calcutta House in Lafayette, Louisiana, where she spent her final days surrounded by family, sharing memories, a few tears, and many moments of laughter. She leaves behind her beloved husband Graylen, her loving daughters, Shannon Trosclair; Amy Thornhill and her husband, Shaun; and Abby Wales and her husband, Eric. She is also survived by her niece and goddaughter, Shantel Pellerin, whom she lovingly raised and cherished as one of her own; her granddaughter, Emily Trosclair, with whom she shared a special bond; and Emily's fiancé, Glen LaPoint. She was blessed with many grandchildren: Joshua Stephens, James Stephens, Leah Smith, Jonathan Stephens, Philip Stephens, Elijah Thornhill, Benjamin Thornhill, Jackson Wales, Oliver Wales, Gibson Wales, and Simon Wales, as well as 13 great-grandchildren who brought her endless joy. Sandra was born on August 14, 1949, in Franklin, Louisiana, and was a graduate of Franklin High School's Class of 1967. She shared a devoted marriage with the love of her life, Graylen Davis and often referred to him as "an angel sent from God." The two met while working at ANR Pipeline, beginning a love story that would last a lifetime and become one of Sandra's greatest blessings. After her time at ANR Pipeline, she worked for the St. Mary Parish School Board before opening her home to care for children. She later joined the team at Teche Ridge Office Supply, where she formed lasting friendships that continued long after her working years. Eventually, she devoted herself fully to her role as a homemaker, caring for the family she treasured so deeply. Sandra never met a stranger. On any outing, it was almost guaranteed that she would leave the checkout line having learned someone's life story and shared plenty of her own. She had a beautiful smile that felt like warm sunshine, an infectious laugh, and a playful spirit that made everyone want to be around her. Her love of dancing and good music was contagious, and whenever you were with her, you knew you were going to have a good time. She found joy in planting flowers, rewatching her favorite movies, creating scrapbooks, framing treasured family photographs, and taking the occasional day trip to the casino. Although life didn’t always allow her to spend as much time with her friends as she would have liked, those moments together laughing, reminiscing and sharing old memories were especially meaningful to her. Above all, Sandra's greatest joy was her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride, and she never missed an opportunity to tell others about them or shower them with love. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, laughter, generosity, and unwavering love that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her. Family and friends are invited to join us on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Guests are welcome to arrive at any time during those hours to visit, share memories, and celebrate Sandra’s life. The gathering will be held at the home she and her husband Graylen shared, located at 106 Durham Drive, Lafayette, LA 70508. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made in Sandra's honor to Hospice of Acadiana (2600 Johnston St, Lafayette, LA 70503, 337-232-1234). Although Sandra was only in their care for a short time, the compassion and comfort provided by the staff of The Calcutta House brought peace not only to Sandra, but to those who loved her most.
