Robert "Bobby" Verret

Maurice - At 3:28 PM on Friday, July 29, 2022, Robert “Bobby" Joseph Verret peacefully passed from this life surrounded by family to his new dwelling place in the House of his Heavenly Father. Funeral Services for Bobby will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Cypress Funeral Home. The family requests that visitation be held on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, from 9:00 am until the time of service. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 2:00 pm. Deacon Keith Duhon of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Milton will conduct the funeral services. For 42 years, he was to his mother, as she lovingly expressed it, "the joy of my heart.” You may ask, "What was Bobby's purpose in life?" The answer is quite simple: Bobby's purpose in life, in spite of his many handicaps, was to be a teacher. No, not like a teacher in front of a class. But a teacher who taught our family by example many life lessons - how to bravely and fiercely fight through the tough times in life and keep on keeping on; how to love unconditionally; and how to accept others in this world who are different than us. We are a much better and loving family for having had Bobby in our lives for 42 years. Bobby is now walking, seeing, and talking. His niece, Haddie, said he's probably playing soccer and eating food. Bobby's family who will remember and love him always include his father, Anthony "Benny" Verret; his mother, Angelina "Angie" Sonnier Verret; his brother, Brian Verret, and his wife, Tracy, and their children, Haddie, Dollie, and Vivian; his sister, Kayla Verret Landry, and her husband, Bryan, and their soon-to-be daughter, Evelyn; his paternal grandmother, Loretta Verret; his aunts, Rose Geer and Julie Breaux, and their families; his uncles, Tommy Verret, James Sonnier, Michael Sonnier, and Patrick Sonnier, and their families. Waiting to greet him in his eternal home are his paternal grandfather, Harris Verret; his maternal grandparents, Alex and Janell Sonnier; his maternal uncle whom he was named after, Robert David Sonnier. Bobby will be laid to rest at St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery immediately following the services. Pallbearers will be Brian Verret, Patrick Sonnier, Bryan Landry, Tommy Verret, Mark Louviere, and Troy Venable. Honorary Pallbearer will be Michael Sonnier. The family wishes to thank his nurses for the past 7 years, Dories Chaney and Kendre Landry, and the Staff and Doctors at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Hospital for their love and care for Bobby.
