Paul Duhon

Maurice - It is with great sadness, but an appreciation for a long and beautiful life, that we announce the passing of our dad, Paul Duhon, five days after his 105th birthday. He passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice. Reverend Paul Bienvenu will serve as Celebrant of the Mass. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM until time of services in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice. A recitation of the Rosary will be prayed at noon. A lifetime resident of Maurice, Paul was a rice farmer and a custom hay baler. After his retirement from active farming, he raised cattle. He was also the owner of the Paul Duhon Store at the intersection of Hwy 92 and Hwy 343. Paul proudly served in the United States Army during World War II. He was attached to the 15th Air Force and served as an MP at Allied Forces in North Africa and in Foggia and Torremaggiore, Italy. As an MP, he had the privilege of escorting generals such as Eisenhower, Doolittle, and British Field Marshal Montgomery. Paul is survived by one daughter, Connie Suire (Jules), and one son, Calvin Duhon (Connie); two grandchildren, Kyle Duhon (Kalen), and Kayla Girouard (Mott); and five great grandchildren, Kameron Duhon, Kohen Duhon, Kole Duhon, Demi Girouard, and Maddox Girouard. Paul is also Survived by one sister, Jane Broussard (Harry). He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Rowena Breaux Duhon; his parents, Ode Duhon and Anna Baudoin Duhon; as well as six siblings, Lucille, Neuvee, Clarence, Carrol, Alga, and Audrey. Honored to serve as pallbearers: Jules Suire, Mott Girouard, Kyle Duhon, Kameron Duhon, Kohen Duhon, Kole Duhon, and Maddox Girouard. Special thanks to Dad's caregivers, Lea Abshire, and Kathleen Breaux, who took wonderful care of him for the last two years. Much appreciation to Community Hospice, especially his nurse, Karen Stelly, and Clarissa.
