Jeanerette - Marjorie M. Landry, age 80, passed away peacefully at The Carpenter House on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, in Lafayette. Service details are pending. Marjorie M. Landry was born on October 8, 1943, in Redlands, California where she met the love her life, Larry, while he was stationed at Camp Pendleton with the United States Marine Corps. Her favorite past-time was being on the back of a motorcycle behind her husband who everyone knows as “Paps” or with a fishing pole in her hand. Marjorie knew no strangers and loved everyone she met. Being a transplant from California, she picked up on Cajun cooking after coming to Louisiana, and she made the best chicken stew ever hands down. The world has lost one physical being, but gained a very special angel. “Fly high beautiful.” Marjorie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Larry “Pappy” Landry; her children, Larry “Coon” Landry (Terri), Leon Mark Landry, Lisa Luke (Keith), and Michelle Morris (Todd); her grandchildren, Dennes Bywater (Michael), Beau Morris (Lacey), Dasha Gaudet (Jason), Amanda Freeman (Kemo), Lance Landry, Matthew Landry, Tylar Morris (Collin Charpentier), Shawn Landry (Victoria), and Makenna Louviere (Seth); her great-grandchildren, Bryce and Gavin Bywater, Collin Morris, A.J. Hebert (Sissy), Koen Gaudet, Brooks Gaudet, Max Gaudet, Adelyn Freeman, Danielle Freeman, Caroline Landry, Kace Louviere, Baby Louviere, Juanita “Chi-Chi” Landry, Eliyanah Landry, and Tinzleigh Landry; her brothers, Alan Ritchie (Carolyn) and Bob Ritchie (Marilyn); her niece; her two nephews; her beloved cat, Peepers; her dog, De-o-gie; along with a host of dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alena Sease Ritchie and Claude C. Ritchie; her in-laws, Leo D. “Jack” and Effie V. Landry; as well as her great-grandson, Kannon J. Gaudet. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at St. Joseph Hospice; as well as The Carpenter House for the care and compassion they offered Marjorie and her family during her time of need.
