Maurice - A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Marcus Doty, age 53, who passed away on Sunday, December 15, 2024, in Lafayette. Pastor Mideate Derouen will Officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 26, 2024, from 10:00 AM until the time of service at Cypress Funeral Home. Reflection of Life Marcus Doty was born on May 27,1971 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Mrs. Dorothy Mae Patin and Mr. Anthony Doty, Sr. who both preceded him in death. Marcus accepted Christ at an early age and was a former member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he participated and served as a member of the Jr. Usher Board with his two brothers, Anthony Jr. and Ricco Doty. He also served in his community as a Cub Scout member and an Ambassador for the Baton Rouge area. He was a 1989 graduate of Baker High School. After graduation, Marcus attended Southern University and Louisiana Technical College in Baton Rouge, LA where he majored in Computer Technology. Following the footsteps of his father who worked in law enforcement, Marcus worked as a Security Guard and Supervisor for over 30 years in various capacities such as DCI, Angola, Women’s Hospital, University Club and most recently LBHU (Lafayette Behavioral Health Unit) in Lafayette, LA until his health declined. He was a hard and dedicated worker with good work ethic. Marcus enjoyed spending time with his family. You could frequently find him traveling to Memphis to spend cherished times with his baby brother, Ricco and sister-in-law LaTisha. He was overjoyed when he got the news that his beautiful miraculous niece, Freedom, was going to be born. Marcus met his girlfriend and love of his life, Leslie G. Green, in May of 2016 and they were together and inseparable ever since. They traveled the world together and Marcus took Leslie on her first airplane ride/trip to Atlanta, GA for her birthday. They continued this traveling trend every year going to places such as California, Las Vegas (Marcus’ favorite) and Tennessee, just to name a few. They made many beautiful, fun and loving memories together filled with prayer, faith, laughter, joys and life’s ups and downs. Marcus enjoyed reading, cooking, joking around, listening to various types of music, was a historian, was very attentive and observant and loved to engage in good conversations. He enjoyed watching the news, history channels and comedy shows. He was a Marvel fan and was also an avid Saints and LSU fan. You could find him on Sunday afternoons in his recliner watching those heart wrenching and edge-of-your-seats football games. Some of his favorite movies were “The Accountant,” “Deep Cover,” and “The Godfather.” While those were his favorites, he loved to watch the TV show, “Yellowstone.” While he was watching the Grand Finale of “Yellowstone” on Sunday, December 15, his heavenly father was getting him ready for his grand finale from his earthly home to his heavenly home. Marcus passed away shortly after watching “Yellowstone.” Marcus leaves to cherish his love and memories to the love of his life for 8 years, Leslie G. Green of Maurice, LA; sister-in-law, LaTisha Doty of Cordova, TN; nieces, Alyssa Doty and Aaliyah White of Baton Rouge, LA and Freedom Doty of Cordova, TN. He also leaves loving and fun memories to his best friend who he called his brother, Lawrence Holland of Baton Rouge, LA; his Godmother, Louise “Jean” Richardson of Greensburg, LA and special friend, Mrs. Chiquita Briley of Baton Rouge, LA., Marcus also leaves loving and special memories with his girlfriend Leslie’s family who he considered as his own: Retha L. Green of Abbeville, LA; Loveless J. Green, Jr. (Abigail) of Broussard, LA and LaTyrie Green of Iowa, LA/ Marcus also leaves a host of cousins, an aunt, uncles and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Mae Doty, his father, Anthony Doty, Sr., and his brothers, Anthony Doty, Jr. and Ricco Doty. Marcus was also preceded in death by Leslie’s father, Loveless J. Green, Sr. Marcus, “You fought a good fight; you have finished the race.
