Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Calvary Chapel of Lafayette for Lula Mae Begnaud, age 84, who passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 in Lafayette. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026 from 9:00 AM until service time at Calvary Chapel of Lafayette. Interment to follow the services at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Lula was born on December 16, 1941 in Lafayette Parish and she was a resident of Breaux Bridge. She was a loving and sentimental woman that cherished her family, always keeping an abundance of family photos in her space. Lula loved westerns and many of their iconic stars, especially Chuck Norris and John Wayne. As much as she loved to reminisce, she was never more present than when she was with her grandchildren. She adored being a caregiver, especially to children, giving them the love and discipline that they needed to grow into wonderful adults. Her life revolved around her family and loved ones, and she would often cook just to invite them over. Lula didn't always have much, but she would give whatever little she had. She also had an endless amount of love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to whom she dedicated her life to. Lula's generous nature and thoughtful, caregiving ways will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones. She is survived by her children, Bryant Begnaud (Tina), Jodie Ruffins (Rodney), Eugene Begnaud, Eddie Begnaud (Erin), and Paula Begnaud; eleven grandkids; as well as five great-grandkids, with one on the way, baby Luke. She was preceded in death by her mother, Bertha Jolivette Zeno and her stepfather, Homer Zeno; her father, David Sonnier; her grandparents, Jules Jolivette and Eucharist Breaux Jolivette; her brothers, Wilton Zeno and Eugene Zeno; as well as her sister, Pearl Chargois. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Landmark of Acadiana Nursing Home for the care and compassion as well as Our Lady of Lourdes, especially Dr. Carbajal and his staff for making her comfortable in her final days. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
