Louis W. Dalmas III

Lafayette - Louis W. Dalmas III, age 68, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, November 19, 2021, surrounded by his family. Memorial Services will be held will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 11am at the Magnolia State Peace Office building located at 201 N. Saint Antoine Street Lafayette, LA 70501. Louis W. Dalmas III was born on August 4, 1953 in New Orleans and he was a resident of Lafayette for the last 16 years. He was affectionately known as Big Lou, Boom and Woodee. He was a graduate and die hard alumni of St. Augustine High School Purple Knights in New Orleans. Louis worked hard to put both of his sons through St. Augustine where they were part of the Marching 100 Band, as well as his daughter, who attended several private schools. He loved going to the casino, watching wrestling and western movies, along with the Saints games. He was a hard worker and always put his family first. He loved his wife unconditionally. Big Lou will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Louis is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Dianne Lawrence Dalmas; his children, Robert Torregano (Dana), Derrick Lawrence (Victoria), Dawn Lawrence(James); 17 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; his siblings, Vernita Scott(Nelson) of New Orleans, Charleisa Jackson of Atlanta, Phyllis Carter (Darvin) of Zachary, and his brother, Keith Dalmas of New Orleans; along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis W. Dalmas II and Lillian T. Leon Dalmas; his brother, Gerard Dalmas; his in-laws, Marion Robertson Lawrence and Rev. Emanuel Lawrence Sr.; and his brother in law, Wesley Lawrence (Pamela). The family wishes to offer a Special Thank You to the nurses, aides and doctors of NSI Hospice Foundation for the special care they provided to Louis.
