Abbeville - A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11:30 am in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Abbeville for Laura Louise Meaux, age 59, who passed away peacefully at Ochsner University Hospital & Clinics on Sunday, November 5, 2023, in Lafayette. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 9:00 am until service time in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Abbeville. A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:00 am in St. Theresa Catholic Church in Abbeville. Laura Louise Meaux was born on October 16, 1964, in Franklin and she was a longtime resident of Abbeville. She proudly served her country in the Army as active duty during The Gulf War (1990-1991). Laura had the biggest heart and she would crochet blankets for all her children and grandchildren. Laura spent time writing in journals and coloring; she found joy and happiness in the simplest things in life. She enjoyed reading to her grandchildren, painting her granddaughters' nails as well as her own, and she had a bit of a sweet tooth; enjoying milk-shakes and chocolate. Laura was dedicated to the care and well being of her autistic son, Josh, whom she loved dearly. She took care of him until her health limitations would not allow her to continue. Laura always made sure to remind her family how much she loved them. She will be deeply missed. Laura is survived by her children, Christine Dunn, Derek James Broussard, Mara Meaux Thibodeaux, and Joshua Luke Thompson; her grandchildren, Aiden James Broussard, Maggie Lynn Broussard, Riley Ann Broussard, Anna Dunn, Wyatt Dunn, Amelie Rose Thibodeaux, and Alister Phoenix Thibodeaux; her siblings, Stacy Meaux and Mary Meaux Manuel; as well as her nephew, Noah Manuel. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Etney Meaux and Loretta Robicheaux Meaux. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff in the Oncology Department at Ochsner University Hospital and Clinics; as well as Doctor Aggarwal for the care and compassion they offered Laura Louise Meaux and her family during her time of need.
