Kayre F. Jones

Lafayette - Kayre Jones passed away on Monday, March 11, 2024, at Lafayette General Hospital after a brief illness. She is survived by her loving husband, John Jones; as well as his sister and Kayre's dear friend, Elizabeth Jones. She was preceded in death by her mother, Barbara Hidago Farhmann; as well as her father, Bobby Farhmann. Kayre graduated from Port Barre High, and McNeese University where she earned a teaching degree. After graduation, she taught at Port Barre Elementary until her retirement in 1997. Kayre married John E. Jones of Lafayette in 1995 at a ceremony at Acadian Village. She moved from Port Barre that same year to live with her husband in Lafayette where they opened and ran a local Bookstore for a brief time. Among Kayre’s hobbies, she loved to read, crossword puzzles arts and crafts. And LSU/Saints/Denver Broncos Football! She loved outdoors. She enjoyed going to Deanos with friends and family. Especially during lent for the Jaques Boudreaux!! Although she did not have any kids she had nieces and nephews she was proud of. And her little Dachshund, Tasso was her pride and joy! In 2013, Kayre and John moved to Lake Charles. This was to be near her aging father and to take care of him when his health finally declined. 5 years after his passing, they moved back to Lafayette to reestablish ties with friends and family here. She was a big fan of all animals, especially Mike the Tiger!!! At the time of her death, she had 4 beloved dogs in their home. Her husband, John, would like to thank the staff at Ochsner’s ICU for making the extra effort to keep us informed of Kayre’s condition and the help of all the other staff too numerous to mention for making Kayre’s last day with us comfortable, and a joyous occasion for her because she was able to visit with her friends and family before her passing.
