Justin Todd Richert

Lafayette - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Justin Todd Richert, 49, on July 10, 2024. A Liturgy of the Word service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice, Louisiana. Deacon Ed Boustany will officiate the service. Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm until the time of services at the funeral home. Justin was born on March 31, 1975 in Fairbanks, Alaska. At the age of 17, he moved to New Orleans. He graduated from Bonnabell High School in 1993. He moved to Lake Charles a few years later where he spent most of his career in hospitality and worked his way up to restaurant management. His charismatic personality, quick wit, humor, and genuine empathy for others made him excel in his craft of serving others. A talented musician since childhood, one of his greatest passions was playing the bass guitar. Justin was in several bands, including Southern Lights and Hollow Point, that performed all over Louisiana. Justin is survived by his three children, Caleb Michael Richert, Elena Patrice Stanley, and Nikolaus Wayne Richert, as well as his mother, Holly Houtchens, sister, Wynter-Joy Houtchens, brother, Aaron Richert, two ex-wives, Alicia Stanley and Tamra Kibodeaux, uncle, Jerry Richert, adopted moms, Norma Le Moine and Valerie Smith, adopted sister, Desiree Le Moine, step-mother, Kelly Richert, step-brothers, Michael and Sean Moore, and so many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Kimberley Todd Richert, grandparents Russell Hobart Green and Nancy-Joy Green, adopted brothers Nikolaus Smith and Richard LeMoine (Ritchie), and adopted sister, Nicole (Niki) LaMoine Ricks. Justin touched the lives of so many. His greatest accomplishments in life were his three beautiful children that he loved dearly. A private commital service will be held at a later date at the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Mausoleum. A special thank you to the amazing staff at Hospice of Acadiana/ Calcutta House for taking such good care of Justin and our family in this time of need. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to this wonderful organization. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
